Like others who have posted to the forum, my goals are personal, and not an attempt to have better numbers than anyone else (even though I'd like to stay in the top 20 of rickrich's stats page). Right now, I'm on my way to getting 730 before December, which would average out to one cache every two days since I first registered with gc.com (21Dec00). Earlier, my goal was 1095 by next January, which would equal a cache a day since I actually started looking for them (25Jan02), but the 730 by December is a more realistic goal. Since I work nights and usually sleep until noon, I haven't been able to get more than 13 in one day, and I'd like to break that barrier, but that'll probably have to wait until the days get long again next summer.

The way I looked at the only milestone that mattered to me was 50 and 100......

At 50 I told my wife...see I didn't waste my money on this GPS thing.

At 100..I told my wife....."see I told you I like this and will keep doing it and now I need a palm, broadband, a better gps, and a new laptop."

And a bigger wings/beer budget to pay for the guy that you call up to come over and fix your tech toys when they "break" Wink

Yeah the shorter days do put a hamper on my after work caching. I'd night cache more, but the park regulations get a bit hazy there too, some parks are only open till a 1/2 hour after sunset, and some till 10, and some just plain don't post hours at all. Besides the fact I've found most of the caches in my area, and don't feel as comfortable night caching in a part of town I don't know. So I'm guessing for the winter months I'll mostly be caching on Saturdays (unless the "Get Saucedİ" night caching group starts up again)

I have a good feeling that it will as I enjoy night caching when it's actually dark and I miss drinking heavily at least once a week Wink

Plus I will be owing folks drinks..... maybe I ought to start looking into setting one up the week after Paul's Eagle Project.
Nothing says "Boy Scouts" like a bunch of drunks who just got finished graffitti-ing on the streets of St Paul. Wink

speaking from experience Green, I know the numbers don't mean too much. I can still go out and get stumped on a cache hide just as good now as when I'd started. Don't let the numbers intimidate you, honestly they're only little bits of info on a website, big deal. The only thing that really matters is that you have fun with it.

LOL Smile For me, (like alot of others already mentioned) It's all about the personal goals I set for myself.

I sometimes get too busy working....with little time to enjoy caching.

My finds usually happen when I:
see new finds that are very close to home
plan a few caches to find with a friend
just plain need to go alone for some "me time"

sure I would like to see my numbers much higher....but for now, I will just try to achieve goals I set for myself.

(my current goal is to reach 200 finds before May 1st .....all Minnesota finds) After that, I start with some serious camping on weekends and will start concentrating on some Wisconsin caches (mostly placed by Tactical Squirrel) Smile
