I think I got 2 without a GPS. One when I first started, just went by online maps and orienting myself with nearby roads, and the second was a couple months ago on a multi stage where the first stage was so overrun with muggles that I couldn't find a time to successfully retrieve it. So from the cache page I was able to figure out where the last stage was.
Might have to do something similar on Silent Bob's "Stonehenge" if my luck doesn't imporve on it |

| When I "took golf ball, left GPSr", we did two or three caches with a topo map and by pacing until we got a replacement. |

Not really geocaching, but I've done my fair share of land navigation courses in the military, using nothing but a map, compass, and military map protractor--with a land nav course, you are given a set of grids for different points and a time limit to get them. When you get to the coordinates, you find a marker on a fence-post, and you usually have a write a code-word or something from the marker on your score-sheet--no having to look for a container and having to sign a log-book. _________________ There comes a time in every young boy's life when he gets an irresistible urge to seek buried treasure.--Mark Twain |
