I was looking at the users on gc.com and mngca.org and noticed there are about 5 cachers in Faribault and many others in the southeren area. It would be nice to see these people. And not many can/want to make the trip to the metro. I guess an event cache would get their attension as a NEW post in Faribault. I'm thinking Sat. Aug. 14 2004. Is that a bad date?
Feedback (and/or help) please.
Thanks Shane. _________________ APRS: Combining Hamradio with a GPSr.

An official event will show up on top of the Minnesota page so everyone in the state would see it.
Most of the "event regulars" travel all over to the events so I don't think it would just be for the "Southreners".
I'd be happy to attend/help if I am free that day. |

I wasn't sure if I was to post this here or in the events area. So I did it here. I know the "metro people" notice everything on the boards. I just want to get the attension of the southeren peeps!
Now to find a nice woody park! _________________ APRS: Combining Hamradio with a GPSr.

Try to find one with a nice sized covered picnic area. That makes it so much nicer to keep people out of the heat and possible rain.
Finding one that is well suited for temp caches is also great |

Alexander park in Faribault in right on the Cannon River. Very nice park with great shelters! But not very "Temp cache" friendly. But who says you have to hide a temp IN the park! _________________ APRS: Combining Hamradio with a GPSr.

They certainly aren't required but it does give everyone something fun to do (both hiding and finding) _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

Hmmm..."a get sauced event in a park?"'
I just looked at something...
Park Alcohol Permits are available at the Faribault Community Center by anyone 21 years or older. All parks require a Consumption and or Keg Permit. The exception being North Alexander where canned beer is allowed without a permit. The cost for a Keg Permit is $23.00 and Consumption (canned beer) Permit $10.00. Alcohol consumption is banned from Father Slevin and Kinder Park plus the River Bend Nature Center. |

North Alexander is 54 acres...is big enough... |
It has LOTS of ballfields and open areas. right on the river. I coud place a 5 star cache and park my canoe and let people get a 5 star cache! I didn't even look at that (beer) Kitch. Looks like that will be the place! I will get to work on it!
Quick coords to give you an idea where it is N 44° 18.300 W 093° 16.920 _________________ APRS: Combining Hamradio with a GPSr.

Beer= the Social Lubricant
It allows us to loosen up when we indulge with moderation and respect, while it also inspires us to be our true selves. Too many of us go about our daily lives suffocating in our own uptightness, in a constant state of worry, focused on work and not life, being nitpicky and oblivious to the wonderful people and moments that surround us. Too many people never take a break to sit down with a pint of their favorite, to look over at the person next to them and say "hello," to make a connection -- an important connection. |

I'd be able to do Saturday Aug 14, and if the date became firm I'd plan on it.
