Obviously I don't have one to give up.
I have no idea what they are. _________________ Save the earth.

so you have to get an invite to setup a google mail account?
Blah, I'll just use the same email addy I've used for years, and my personal one for real conversational emails. Never liked the thought of all my personal information stuck on someone else's server anyways. |

eh. I just don't see what the fuss is all about. Invites are going out like hotcakes now. The site is heavily flooded with worthless javascript which makes it utterly useless for me.
I guess if I had to store some really large files somewhere I could use it for that. Otherwise I will use my own mail server. At least then I know that someone isn't spidering my stuff to force feed me ads at a later time. |

I was just talking about the whole "it's so cool to have a GMail account thing". I guess it's because I have one it's nothing exciting. What do I know? |

If ya happen to have an extra Kitch, I'd be interested. Not sure what I'd do with it, but at least I'd reserve my name or something, and play around a bit to see what all the hype is about |

I'm interested in gmail only because its a free 1GB of off-site storage. In theory, I could use it as a poor man's off-site backup plan. I would archive and compress my important data files, apply strong encryption to that, and then mail it to my Google account for safekeeping.
In practice, Google may have thought about that and have made it difficult to use the storage in this way. I won't know until actually see the service.

I think many gmail users got 6 new invites today. Looks like they're expanding their beta. I just sent one to rickrich. It shouldn't be hard to find one now.
