What I want to know is how we can get 18 people to vote for Yellow Jeep TBs but we average 14 people a month on cache of the month.

I would vote on most of the COTM polls, but I haven't been to most of them so I don't feel it's fair for me to vote on something I haven't visited yet.

I don't care anymore.

In the photo, you can clearly see me standing in the background, looking on disinterested.

I was considering putting thought/speech bubbles over people and Moe's was going to be: "What am I doing here?"

From an post on the ALACACHE.com pages...
Quote:
One more thing, I'm sure it was VERY time consuming attaching tags to 5,000 Jeeps but the little chain is attached to the roll bar of the Jeeps and the roll bar can easily be detached from the Jeep. I can't help but wonder how many Jeeps are gonna lose their tags.

Their method was as follows...

1) First come First serve on email requests... for a set number.
BUT had to place a cache in the state in past year.
2) Put some in caches...
3) Mailed some north and south to other board members to place in more caches.

Any one that owns a cache and wants a bug to place in thier cache. Just put thier name in a hat and draw. One bug per owner. If MnGCA has more bugs than that to give away give them at events. Also if you as an owner are picked you have to pick them up or pay for the postage. Confused

One option was left out of the poll: Couldn't care less

i'd have to agree.

when i started geocaching, i really wanted to find travel bugs. i was pissed that "bug chasing" was such a big sport, making it difficult to find them. once my initial fascination with travel bugs ended, my interest in travel bugs focused on picking some up for interstate geocaching, or finding a bug that was unique, interesting or entertaining. (the joe millionaire travel bug is a good example of entertaining.)

it seems to me that i'm not the only one whose interest in bug chasing has waned. so it surprises me a bit that there's so much interest in tracking down one of 4,000 identical travel bugs. sure, it'd fun to be able to say "i found more yellow toy jeeps than all of you." and i wouldn't mind saying "hey, i won a jeep through their geocaching promotion!" but given the fact that winning a jeep isn't connected to chasing little toys, i'm not sure why there's such fascination with this promotion. (UPON FURTHER REVIEW i see there are contests attached to finding the bugs, although it wasn't clear to me what the prizes are. assuming the prizes are of a few hundred dollars in value, the chance to win a prize by taking a picture of one of these bugs will do little to entice me to chase one.)

given the interest in finding 'em, i have a feeling i won't be coming across one for quite some time, which is fine. i have other geocaching agendas to complete this summer, thanks to folks like RJ and dyl.
