|
|
The first round of the Lakers game will end June 30th and Round 2 will begin on July 1st. This first round was just meant to be preliminary and to get most of the gamepieces into action. Thanks everyone who placed them into caches far and wide. Some even got to the extreme edges of the state.
Round 2 will last for 3 months, ending on September 30th, and then Round 3 will begin immediately after. The 3 month term can change so Round 3 could last for more than 3 months.
All scores will be reset to zero at the beginning of the second round and every gamepiece is up for grabs, even if you found it during round one.
Thanks all for your help! |

A couple ofsuggestions for future rounds...
Bonus points for moving lakers greater distances (25, 50, 100 miles. etc.)
Penatlty points for holding the laker more than X days.
Just some ideas. _________________ "Hi, I'm Moe, or as the women know me - Hey! You in the bushes."

Another suggestion: One shouldn't get credit for dropping lakers that you picked up from the previous game but didn't drop off yet. One should drop off all their lakers in caches before the next round starts.
(Or it'd make sense to someone who doesn't have a high score this round to hold on to a bunch and drop them after July 1)
...and I agree with Moe, especially on the part about losing points for holding them too long.

The only penalty you get for dropping more than 3 in one place at the same time - is that you're basically giving someone else a ton of points.
(And if you're talking about me leaving a ton of lakers in Hinkley, I wasn't getting points for them, and my intention was to drop them off in Duluth, but couldn't due to bad weather and the 2 caches I did find in Duluth that day could only fit one or two each.)
I don't think dropping a bunch in the same cache should have a penalty, you're just giving your competition a gift. I think I essentially gave Centris 12 points this way. Whoops. Live and learn.

Basically, most of the rules are on the honor system. We have no way enforcing them now and some new code would have to be written for it to happen.
I think having less rules now makes sense, because it should be a fun game for people to participate in and not have to be on a strict timeline. It is nice though when someone drops them right away so others can grab them.
I do like gaining more points for moving a laker a certain distance, but that too would involve a lot of code writing by the webmaster himself.
And s4xton, thanks again for moving so many lakers up north, it's appreciated! |

Another suggestion:
Laker pieces should be dropped before the game ends, and any pieces that people carry between rounds should not be counted for points.
(Otherwise, it's a good strategy for me (or anyone) to round up all the lakers that I've already scored points on and then drop them all off July 1st and get points on them right away in the next round)...
...but I agree with RJ too... more rules might make things more difficult to manage...

I think you brought this up above.
Yeah, I agree with this (did before too) and will implement it before Round 2 begins). |

End of round 1 will be 9:00 PM on June 30th (tomorrow). I will be testing a few behind-the-scenes changes between 9 and 11 tomorrow night after the change so I would recommend doing all moves before 9 or after midnight.
Please remember that you will get no points for Lakers picked up in one round and dropped in a later one. This is to encourage everyone holding Lakers to drop them today or tomorrow so others can play. |

My bad. I'll fix it now.
Edit: Followup:
I guess I shouldn't post these while driving. Two typos in a row. Sorry everyone, it should be fixed the next time the map updates.
