I stopped getting instant notifications. Never changed spam settings and all notifications on GC are the same. Anyone else having this problem? What can be done?

This morning I noticed a couple of new caches near my home (published 2 days ago) in which I'm sure I didn't receive an email about. That has happened in the past on occassion so I didn't think too much about it. Tonight I talked to a friend and he said he didn't receive the notificatiions either. Hmmm.

I finally received a publication notification of my new hide at 3:00 AM today. Others received it at@ 8:00PM yesterday. I have not received any notifications when it was submitted or any of the finds logged on it.

Depending on your email client you could look at the header information and see if it was a delay in delivery.

Using gmail you click on the more button and select "Show Original"

You get something like this.

Starting at the bottom you can see

1. Groundspeak email server received it at 18:52:58 from an internal server
2. Google received it at 18:53:14
3. Delivered to gmail at 18:53:15

In this case delivery was nearly instantaneous.

Sometime, for instance at my office, the corporate email server will receive it (step 2) but it will get stuck in the corporate email spam processor for a long time before it gets delivered (step 3). So in this case you would see a large gap between the timestamps.

Some email client (outlook) will actually show the sent time and the received time so you don't have to do the work.

Just one possible reason for them being delayed as opposed to them not being sent, which would be a different issue.

I'm curious if you looked at the headers as WSD suggested?

Emails take many steps to get to their destination, but if you haven't looked at the headers then it's hard to know where the delay is.

I don't have gmail and I don't know what that is. As I stated I have camcast email. I'm not a computer expert but I cheecked everything at comcast. Don't know what else to do or how to use WSD's post.

Geocaching notifications is the only mail that's delayed. Just got the PQ I ran about 8:30 last night, today at 5:40 this afternoon.

I don't know what it means but it's followed by a load of computer gobbley gook.

It means that one Groundspeak server sent it to another Groundspeak server, where it sat for 26 hours before being forwarded to Comcast.

Gmail and Yahoo accounts are free, if you don't mind the NSA reading your emails.
