| We had a good response to the 2012 Goals thread. What do you all have planned for 2013? |

| Boringly enough, the same as last year. Enjoy searching caches, seeing new places, typing out experiences, getting excercise, and learning new things through this game all through the year as much as I do today. |

Hmmm... I never responded to the 2012 goals (wasn't very active in the forum) but we accomplished all of them, which were:
- Hit #1000 on our 1 year geo-anniversary
- Complete the 366 streak
- Complete the 100 a month club
- Complete the "Welcome To" Challenge
Our outstanding goals at this point are:
1) Finish the streak at 500
2) Finish a Year of FTFs (we are at 8 months so far)
3) Finish the Avian Adventure
4) Find a cache in every county in MN
5) Complete all Geo-Stalker Challenges and Final
6) Complete our fizzy
7) Hide 3 more caches for Blue Belt
8) Hide another 30 caches, get at least 1 more state, hit #2000 (easy), and host an event for Brown Belt
9) Then, hit #3000 for Black Belt
10) Complete the Placed Month grid
11) 7/11 Virtual Challenge
12) Complete the Cache Across America (this will take years, I'm sure)
13) And our loftiest "bucket list" goal would be to find a cache in every county of the US, but of course we'd have to be retired to do that... We work on it everywhere we go though as much as possible...
So, in 2013, I'd like to cross at least 5 of those off the list. |

Thanks for the reminder. I just checked the other thread, and I'm surprisingly pleased to see that I actually met all of last year's goals. Of course, being unemployed for half the year allowed me a little more time to cache, and I don't really want that opportunity again.
Goals for 2013:
Travel: Add 1 or more Canadian Provinces, and 1 or more states, plus 15 or more counties.
Cache type goals: Hit 100 total in Multis, 50 each in Earthcache and Virtuals, Attend at least one event each month. Complete one or more 5/5/ caches.
Hiding: Put out at least 10 new quality hides, with good, tough puzzles among them, as well as a couple of worthy Challenge caches
Find a cool cache to do as # 2500, and maybe even make it to #3000 by the end of the year.
Remember to take more photos and include them in my online logs.
Attend 2 or more CITOs |

I hit most of my 2012 goals but a couple were a stretch so we are still working on them.
My goals for 2013 are:
1. Add 5 more states/provinces to my list. (I added 4 countries last year)
2. Reach 200 virtuals
3. Do the 7/11 challenge
4. Attend another Mega event. I have 5
5. Complete 2 large challenge caches. We did the calendar grid and will finish up 365 days in a row at the end of January.
6. Reach 200 unknown/puzzle caches.
7. Do at least one long power trail with friends.
8. Reach the 3500 cache plateau.
9. Attend at least 10 events this year.
Make way more geocaching friends. _________________ If you're successful in what you do over a period of time, you'll start approaching records, but that's not what you're playing for. You're playing to challenge and be challenged.--Lou Brock |

I've got a geocaching excursion planned for Memorial Weekend to complete GC35 (Michigan's oldest) and GC36 (only one of two remaining August 2000 hides in the US). There are three of us going so far, possibly a 4th. Might be an opportunity to share some expenses. |

I have not yet thought out 2013 in great detail yet. But here's a few thoughts..
- Complete the Circle Me Bert Challenge (two counties away).
- Complete the Avian Adventure (20 parks away).
- Complete the Month Hidden Challenge (one away).
I'll continue my quest to be webcam cache leader. If lucky I might add 10 this year. Need approx 20 to take the lead (last time I checked).
I'll continue my quest to cache in all 50 states and DC. I only have 8 remaining. I doubt I'll be able to make progress this year. |

Still mostly just want to enjoy, but in that line I'm going to try to do more "run caching" (run out along a route at my workout pace, then cache my way back at an easy walk/jog.) It's a really nice reward for exercising to find caches on the way back.
I also want to do some canoe or kayak caching again this year. And climb a lot of trees. |

Well, I met my goal in 2012; filling my D/T grid. I also extended my streak to 415 days. After the end of that streak, I haven't done a lot of caching at all.
This year, I am going to focus on quality, not quantity.
I am hoping to make a road trip, possibly to New England. Maybe Texas? Of course, I've said that before.
I am sure I will have minor 'obsessions' as the year passes. _________________ "We never seek things for themselves-what we seek is the very seeking of things"-Pascal |

| I told someone at the event at the capital, my goal was to wake up each morning. If I get some caches along the way, that will be gravy on the biscuits so to speak. |

I don't do goals when it comes to things I do for fun. It takes the fun out of it, and creates opportunities for gross interference. (example: I once committed to taking 20,000 photos in a year, a 6,000 increase over the previous year. Soon after I started, my bride decided we were going to go to the gym three days a week, reducing photo-taking time by 95%. Once the goal was un-achievable, she grew weary of going to the gym.)
So having said that, here's what I'm looking at as "goals":
1) Have fun caching.
2) Take photos while caching.
3) Place my first cache.
Keep it simple, keep it fun.

| I find striving towards goals as being fun, even if I don't accomplish them. |

I'm keeping my goals simple:
1)Find at least one cache each month.
2)Find at least 500 caches for the year.
3)Publish some type of Challenge cache.
4)See if I can get more people interested in the sport.
5)Get to 2 areas and do "power trails".
6)Most importantly, HAVE FUN!!
Please note none of these are that difficult, but I hate not being able to complete a goal. _________________ King of the Jeff Gordon TB's!
