with gas prices predicted to hit up to $2.50-$3.00 a gal this summer- how, if any, will this effect geocaching? _________________ LIFE IS GOOD;CABIN LIFE IS GREAT |

I don't know if it will....
But funny how come the gas companies are expected to have an profit increase so high in the next quarter?? |

I bought a small beater car just for geocaching. That way I don't have to drive my V8 truck to cache. _________________ Well the first days are the hardest days, don't you worry any more

It'll *definitely* affect my geocaching...it's going to make it more expensive! I toy with the idea of getting a smaller car, but I can't quite break away from the gas-sucking SUV -- we're too co-dependent! <sigh> |

I use my motorcycle so it will effect me somewhat, not like you SUV folks Ahhhhh, 50 mpg.... and fun! Unfortunately that may not happen anytime soon I will be selling my GPS III+ with handlebar mount, software, and cords on ebay. Hopefully I will get some money to help in getting a used GPS. |

The only effect it will have on me is maybe having to ask others to join me on a group hunt and to actually request them to share the cost of the gas instead of only taking what is offered. _________________ Airborne All the Way! |

I want to hit KB's Share the Land cache either the day before or right after the next Breakfast Buddies event--the current gas prices is why I've asked if anyone wants to join me in the Share the Land thread--it'd be nice to Share the Gas as well--if I don't get any takers, I'll probably still do it, though--2 bucks is only a quarter more than $1.75, which is what we've been paying on weekends lately anyhow, so that's only about 3 bucks more to fill up my car, and 3 bucks is just three less sodas a week at work (out of the dozen or so that I drink). When it gets up to 3 bucks, though, it'll probably start to limit my caching. _________________ There comes a time in every young boy's life when he gets an irresistible urge to seek buried treasure.--Mark Twain |

Jeep, (as far as gas goes it's like driving a refridgerator) stays home if it' just me + 1 daughter, then it's the motor bike. _________________ Save the earth.

| I'd run with you on that sharing the land one 15tango, if I get the time over that weekend (memorial day weekend right?) Only trouble is I found out we're doing inventory at work on that Saturday, which absolutely KILLS that day for me. Which coincidentally means I can't make the breakfast buddies event either, which I was looking forward to, guess I'll go next month instead for that. |

since gas will, thankfully, top that $2 threshold this summer -- something we've all been anxiously awaiting -- i'm going to try and combine one of my seasonal activities with geocaching. since i tend to bicycle a lot in the summer, i'm going to try and find ways to bike to and from caches when possible.
the drawback is that unless the cache location is in an area i know well, i won't know the best routes and possible bike trails to and from the location. i'm not crazy about sharing major roadways with automobiles, and try to avoid it whenever possible.
i'm going to try and cover the minnetonka/hopkins area this summer, since i know my way around those cities a bit, and there are bike trails available. that's what i did on sunday. i drove to a starting point in minnetonka, unloaded the bike and hit the road. while i did have to drive, i drove less than i would have otherwise, and i racked up a modest 13 miles on the bike, all in the name of geocaching.
given that i finally kicked off my bicycling season on saturday, in the name of charity, i didn't have a lot of strength/energy for riding on sunday, so 13 miles yesterday seemed like a lot more.
starting the biking season off with a 35-mile ride: not recommended. |

I suggest team-deadhead's grouping of caches along the Luce Line trail. They are all in a straight line along that rails to trails section. I think there are 7 or 8 of them in a row. Park at one end and ride to the other and cache the way back. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

| that's an area i will certainly try to take advantage of. i probably could have found a few along the gateway trail on saturday, or whatever that trail is called over in the maplewood/stillwater area, but i didn't plan ahead. shame on me. |

There are other caches along the Luce Line as well. Not just team-deadhead. _________________ "Hi, I'm Moe, or as the women know me - Hey! You in the bushes."
