I think they're joking mostly, and I'm sure a few will get out. There's also another thousand or so going out to individuals, you might check the gc.com forums to see if there's a sign up.
If all else fails, I know I wanted to get one for the PR work I did when everyone was at the Spring event, and you're more than welcome to have a look, log it and all, I won't be that greedy, but I'd like to hold on to it.
That also goes for anyone worried they might not see one, I'd be happy to pass mine around so everyone gets a shot at using it/logging it, I'd just like to hang on to it as a memento. |

Thanks, but I too would prefer one of my own (as Im sure most other cachers in MN might too?) I also requested one from the site. It just seems like very few will actually circulate in MN. And from what Ive read, it will be intentional. |

These aren't collectors items they are bugs. They are meant to move. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

I can tell you that more than likely most of the bugs will vanish because of people either keeping them for the purposes that KC0GRN wants to or outright theft.
I doubt the "hoarding" thing will actually come to pass. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

Neither: they are promotional garbage!

If they all vanish, does it matter whether its via theft, tokenism, or hoarding?
Most MN cachers wont get the chance to hunt one, find one or log one.
Anyone interested in participating in the contest might's well head for the land of Sin. |

To participate, sign up to win at http://jeep.geocaching.com/
Jeremy has verified in the gc.com forums that they cannot directly increase your chances of winning a Jeep by finding a Jeep travel bug. The only thing finding an actual bug does is help promote the drawing and allow your entry into the poem and art contest for more free promotional stuff.

I was talking in general and not specifically about what's going to happen to them in MN. 5 of my 7 bugs disappeared outside the state lines. I can only assume that it will be much worse for these little things.

Well, we are joking (I'm pretty sure). But I suspect that whatever does happen to the Jeeps, the TB tags will remain circulating.
So if you want a Yellow Jeep TB, just wait until you find a Yellow Jeep TB tag attached to a sprinkler head. Then, attach your own Yellow Jeep Matchbox car. Voila, a complete Yellow Jeep TB.

As I said, I have.
I wasnt looking for a way to increase my odds of winning the jeep- I already have 2(although that sure would be nice!) The only thing I am looking for is the opportunity to hunt the Jeep Bugs. Its something that is being done on a national basis, so it sould be fun to participate -log it and move it on.
It just seems that chance will be limited because of other local cachers.

And as I have said I don't think it's going to be any different on a national scale either. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |
