Ever since finding Alvin's Phone Line, I've been obsessed with historic caches. Since then, I've found the first ever and oldest active caches in Texas and Mississippi. This summer I'll have an opportunity to find the first/oldest cache in Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New York and most of New England. I am rather looking forward to finding GC28 and GC39.
What is the oldest cache YOU'VE found? |

jREST and I did a seven state 48 hour cache run this past summer where we found the oldest caches in Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas and Missouri.
The oldest cache in Colorado "Tarryall" has the lowest active GC# (GC18 7-2-00).
But the oldest cache in Kansas "Mingo" is also the Oldest Active cache in the world: GC30 5-11-00!
Both of these were must finds along our route, and the oldest ones in MO and NE were just gravy! _________________ "There is a pleasure in the pathless woods..." - Lord Byron |

| The oldest one in MO is not even a mile from the first apartment I lived in in KC, there's a grocery store right there that I used to go to all the time. If only I had known.... I was actually down there and found a few caches, I didn't realize that was the oldest, or I probably would have made a point to get it, I found a few across the KS line not too far away just to add that state. |

This was find #99 for me. I believe it is the oldest active cache and the second oldest ND cache. |

That could be I was told it was the oldest by a local cacher.
And it is now very close to the house. _________________ ---------------------------------------------------

| Last winter we found GC37 Missouri's First - Watts Mill. The cache was a bit out of our way to our vacation spot but I just had to detour. I'm on a mission to find a cache hidden in every month of every year so I'm going to need to find a lot more old caches. |

Or just stop hibernating and start caching more frequently. |

I found GC23 on Oahu last summer. It's on a really nice hiking trail in the rainforest, with about 8-10 other caches to be found. According to the cache listing, it's the 8th oldest active cache in the world.
I still want to find Alvin's Phone Line. It would be fun to find in the winter, but for us it's more likely to be during the non-teaching months, due to distance. |

| I just did South Dakota's oldest active cache GC87E CLIFFCACHE this week. WOW, absolutely without a doubt the best "oldest" cache I've done. It was quite the adventure. |

I just found the oldest cache in New Mexico, GC190. It's still not as old as Alvin's Phone Line, which I've found twice. |

| Completed the oldest active caches in IL, OH, PA and CT so far on our trip. Had to pass on NJ's as our route got hosed up and ran out of daylight. Tomorrow will be MA, RI and ME. Later in the week is VT, NY and IN. |
