We all know what the six degrees of separation are. Someone somewhere said that we are somehow connected to everyone else through a maximum of six different people.
Now I want to involve geocaching.
Have you ever bumped into someone while geocaching or seen someone pull up while you drove away. Even geocaching with someone like a buddy counts but not at an event. I want to see who I've "six degrees of separationly" cached with, and you can too!
I'll go first:
I've only seen one person, and that was pogopod in Anoka. He was starting to drive away and shuffling through a ton of papers and we talked about it later and he saw me too. I'm amazed that I haven't seen anyone else since. This was about a year ago. |

Ah yes, who indeed is the Kevin Bacon of the MN geocaching scene?
I've run into tricolor looking for R.J.'s traveling cache.
I think that it's happened 1 or 2 other times but I can't remember the details (not counting at or on the way to events). Funny that it does not happen more. |

Let's see, at "Pioneer Park" we were unexpectedly joined by Comando. A nice lady.
At "If this is sturges....." we were spied by team deadhead.
At "Orphans of Wright County" mom alone was spoted, but I can't remember who by. It might have been ko-dis-vey, but I'm not sure.
At "Memorial Park Quest" we think (unconfirmed) that we saw map geek picnicing between caches. _________________ Save the earth.

I only run into people by accident when I look like @#$%
First local ones I ever ran into was DeadBleepingAlien in Erlandson Park
then Bobcat at Cherokee (skunked him on a TBug)
then Big Red One and his kids at ???
then Bug Spray at Rots-a-Rocks (she found my dropped GPS!)
then Wallflower at Mall of America
and Team Weirdwonz (from California) at Christian Ponds
I ran into one guy in Omaha at a multi cache.... He scared me a bit.
I met two different folks out on the trails out in Wyoming and three more in Utah Valley. One of them even invited me home for lunch (which was really fun, because he soon had a small crowd of crazy geocachers over and we had a mini-event -- set me back on my trip about 6 hours)
I *suspect* I saw DJTrackers one morning
I also saw some people with a GPS at Checkerboard one day milling around near the cache site.... don't know if they found it or not, they never logged online.
I also am 95% sure I saw TimberWolf at the Silver Lake cache one day
Only people I have ever geocached with on purpose (not at an event) was pogopod and CAG
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
edit....... whoops I forgot that I also met Ko-dat-vey while hunting Moving 123
| The aforementioned RJ and Kitch, last summer. Also met ALTdotAIR in Monterey, California. They happened to walk past one of their caches as I visited it. Alt dot Air is also a travel bug. |
On the trail, I've met at least these people:
TeamCNJC, molesen, Vermadon, SomewhereInND, cacherkk, Moe The Sleaze(2), Ko-tis-Vey, LouRem (just Lou), brjzn
There are 2 or 3 more that I can't put names to right now, and of course many more that I've met at events.
Oh yeah, I ran into towlebooth and jillibean at St. Peter Riverside cache on the way down 169 to the Mankato event. I was eating a McMuffin in the cache parking lot. I don't know if that counts. Need a ruling here.
Yup, met rickrich there and "GPSFree" (luckily I have the logbook of the recently plundered cache in front of me). He never logged that cache online.
| Just this afternoon, KC0QEG and I were at the Abandoned Hobo Camp cache in Fridley signing the log when Ko-tis-vey walked up to us. We introduced ourselves and talked about the caches of the day before going our seperate ways. He did give us a neat "Ko-tis-vey calling card". |
Here is an undirected graph of the results so far (modulo omissions and bugs introduced by me)...
The "dot" language source input (for AT&T Graphviz) is also there.
The one where I am linked to Articabn and whatsagps should have Articabn linked directly to whatsagps as well.
Rickrich, I knew you'd end up doing something cool with this data. I was trying to figure out how I could but in the end decided to leave it up to the master. It doesn't look like I've geocached with hardly anyone! |
And once again I am off in my own little universe...... (grin)
Very cool thing, RR, thanks!
Once KB posts his cachers list there will be lots of links, I think he has met several at his Armory/Games cache. |
