|

We all know about FTF and TFTC SL and of course my favorite LTF (latest to find)
I had someone post a note on one of my caches that simple says "dip"
Not knowing what "dip" means I assumed it means something I should not like.
I sent them a note asking for an explanation. Some Acronyms are just not meant to be used. |

| It's benign. They are dipping a trackable. If you don't/forget to drop a trackable into the cache when you are writing your find log, you need to write a new log to put the trackable in. This cacher is keeping the trackable (It's likely a personal trackable) so they put it in and take it right back out again to log miles, or record the history. They have done it to a bunch of caches so are likely going back a ways in their caching history. |

| Not an acronym. Not sure why it bothers you. |

| OK I see - I just didn't know if the person thought I was a dip or what. I guess it's one of those silly things. |

One of my favorite (non-geocaching) acronyms: TTP _________________ "Hi, I'm Moe, or as the women know me - Hey! You in the bushes."

I pulled this from an online encyclopedia..
| Quote: |
| An acronym is a word formed from the initials of words in a phrase, such as NATO ['neyto] from North Atlantic Treaty Organization or "scuba" from "self-contained underwater breathing apparatus." It is often used to include abbreviations but abbreviations are not all pronounceable words. "YDC" is an abbreviation, not an acronym. |

Well that may be true but it still doesn't alter the fact that I don't like being called a dip |

Ah, I get it now Moe, you mean the Urban Dictionary version of TTP, "Toke Toke Pass". Just what have you been doing with yourself lately? |
