The board received this request; if you are able to help, please let me know via PM and I can pass along the contact information:
Hello.
I have reserved the meeting room at the Sun Ray Branch of the Saint Paul
Public Library for the 3rd Saturday afternoon of each month from March-June
I am intending to present informational programs on geocaching.
There will be 4 sessions. I planned 4 sessions in order to be able to
cover most of the angles
1) This session will provide the geocaching basics and the big picture. What geocaching is. It's history. The terminology. Some information on
GPS receivers, and so forth. This would be an opportunity for participants
to learn of the MnGCA.
The next 3 sessions will provide more detail in a workshop setting on
specifics. These would be opportunities to have MnGCA members to come
share their expertise. While I will be putting together a brief
informational PowerPoint for each session, the workshop atmosphere is for
experts to talk and share and demonstrate.
2) Choosing and buying GPSr. The different kinds of GPS receivers. Loading maps onto GPS receivers. Software needed for computers
3) Searching for caches: navigating the Geocaching Web site, loading
caches onto your GPSr, gpx files and waypoints and clues on how to plan
your geocaching time. Travel bugs: what they are and how to log them.
4) Hiding caches. The rules and regulations. Tips on building good
caches. Tips on finding best locations. Tips on how to request a cache on
Geocaching.com. And stories of best caches and how to manage your
challenges and files.
I need some help with all of this because I am a pretty amateur
geocacher.
If there is anyone who would like to meet with me and help me make this a
better program, it would be nice. Can you assist me in recruiting some
volunteers?
I am a librarian at Sun Ray, and this program would be a library-sponsored
informational program. |
