Sounds like a great cache name for a puzzle cache |

| This is getting ridiculous. Is anyone else having trouble? Why would there be problems on a Tuesday afternoon? |

Does anyone have any broken computer equipment that'll fit in an ammo can? I have three caches almost ready to go, and in honor of the latest events at GC.com, I'm going to name them "Server error in '/' application," "Server Busy," and "Deadlock Victim." _________________ There comes a time in every young boy's life when he gets an irresistible urge to seek buried treasure.--Mark Twain |

hahaha 15Tango, I'm glad someone did it, I was thinking of it too.
I believe I can come up with a few items, what are you looking for? Motherboards? Cards? Keyboards? Mice?
I'm guessin out of that mix, mice and peripheral cards will be the most likely fits. Too bad I didn't have an extra little foam computer (those stress reliever things).
In hindsight, would be interesting to modify a computer case to work as a geocache container... |

If anybody wants to tackle that.... I have a *few* old Mac plus or SE's that I would donate and could be used for just such a thing. Take out the guts and the CRT... replace where the screen would be with some sort of a door, waterproof the vents and you are good to go.
Or if anyone would like to make themselves a Macquarium.....

Cool, I was thinking of modifying a PC box, since I have a few lying around, but an all in one box would be an easier modification.
The only other problem is where to hide such a beast... |

My idea right now is to make a multi-point using projected waypoints--I won't specify whether to use true north or magnetic north--one choice will lead you to the final cache, and the other choice will lead you to a cache full of busted computer stuff. Just to make it fair, I will put the coordinates to the good cache in the bad cache, so if you do make the wrong choice, it won't be a total waste of time--it'll just mean you have an extra step involved in getting to the final cache. If someone's more on the ball than I am, you can feel free to use this idea. _________________ There comes a time in every young boy's life when he gets an irresistible urge to seek buried treasure.--Mark Twain |

Well one choice, unless you have declination look up tables on the GPSr, may not lead you anywhere at all.
True north setting is a static setting. Magnetic north changes depending on year, area, etc.
You have a Vista GPSr IIRC. It does not include the declination tables. If you didn't set the degree manually you would be way off on your coordinates. If you didn't link to a declination table someone that didn't have much of an idea about their GPS could get easily frustrated.
Just an FYI. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |
