Over on the other side of the state line, there's a thread on the WGA forum that has new posts almost constantly. However, they don't call it the "Useless Drivel" thread for nothing. |
I think we need a "Useless Drivel" thread. |

This whole thread reminds me of the "Cache-O-Mania" thread. Just like with caches hidden, with forum activity, quality matters more than quantity. _________________ "Hi, I'm Moe, or as the women know me - Hey! You in the bushes."

But Waldo, to answer your question once and for all:
I do see your concern here, you're worried about the MnGCA not having enough activity and fizzling off, and I think you understand the importance of the MnGCA because of this worry.
On the other hand I do DO NOT think this will happen. I think you'd be surprised how busy us MnGCA members are. When you become a member that posts more you will understand. As a member I can't IMAGINE how busy the Board members are.
If you click on the "User List" link at the top of the "fourm index" there's alot of members that have "0" posts. I think this is a result of people joining the MnGCA just to be able say they're a member. I mean I can't help but being proud of being a MnGCA member myself.
The MnGCA is a very important for us Minnesota cachers to have. Keep alot of events going in MN (there's almost always more than one event on the weekends) and a spot for Geocachers to come and chat about MN geocaching.
I think the MnGCA will keep going for along time.
I hope this post will help address things better. |

I have to agree that I don't see a problem here. I had the same thing with another group I run with one person being really concerned with a drop in the number of posts and was the group at death's door?? Well guess what it was that this one super chatty person (many of whose posts were "LOL!" or something similarly enlightening ) stopped posting. There's also a natural ebb and flow with online groups.
I got the chance to look Oregon's state geocaching site as I was traveling recently and it was painfully obvious that no one had updated anything for a great while (for example of the ten caches recommended on the front page 80% were archived . . . ) There are posts to our forum every day and tons of events and activity. I think we have a healthy organization and as long as new leaders continue to get involved it will remain so. |
