Nominations for September 2011 Cache of the Month are now open (from now till end of day on August 31st). For full details check here, but the short version - if you find an outstanding cache, reply to this post with the caches name and what made it so special that you want to nominate it for Cache of the Month!
Is it hot enough for you? Get out there and enjoy it, just think it wont be long till I'll be asking, "Is it cold enough for you?" in February! lol |

I would like to nominate The Gold Rush by stringfellow88. This is a 3 stage multi that can be done as a race. You'll need a boat, and you're going to get wet. All stages are hidden underwater. Stage 1 contains coordinates for two different stage 2 locations. Each stage 2 will lead you to the same final. So if you have two teams you could each go to separate stage two locations and see who gets to stage 3 first. We attempted this in 2010 and failed, but we were able to complete the cache this summer. We didn't race but appreciated having two options for stage 2 since we couldn't find the first. Even those who log a DNF say it is one of their favorite caching experiences. Great fun and very satisfying to complete. _________________ May the potassium be with you! |

I'd like to nominate Cabo "Wobble" (GC2ZNDA).
It's a puzzle that sits out on the edge of the metro area, so it doesn't get the attention that a more central metro puzzle would draw. But it's a fun, challenging puzzle that a lot of people can do. The hide is very well done as well, with a neat container. Lots of care went into this one, and it deserves some love! |

Interesting. Cabo Wabo is a Sammy solo song (and bar). Not sure of the Van Halen thing in regards to the song. Since I am a fan of both, I'll have to check it out. Though, in a technical sense, isn't the use of commercial logos forbidden? |

Yes indeed, commercial logos are forbidden....hence the name Cabo "Wobble". I had to change Wabo to Wobble to get this cache approved. This cache is a result of KB's Jukebox Hero cache. I pulled the song entitled "Cabo Wabo" by Van Halen (no...it is not a Sammy solo song). Unfortunately, when I first submitted the cache for approval, I wasn't even thinking about the commercial aspect and submitted with cache name of Cabo Wabo....as was required by the Jukebox Hero cache. Our local cache reviewer caught this and pointed out the commercial aspect....so I just got a little creative with the title...and edited the description a bit....and voila...approval. |

I think the rule as interpreted is stupid, er, STUPID. I can see disallowing advertising. But pretending some thing or some place doesn't exist is just, stupid.
But to keep on topic, I'll have to go find the cache. Makes me want to crank up the dial. |
