One of you, who's very keen to when the 3 month window comes up, pre-posted notes on your cache pages. Thanks! |
I wish I could say this is us!
My you were up late/early this morning! Thanks for the note. I'll get something on the cache page and try to check it in a week or two. |

| I replaced my two caches in the Minnesota River Valley yesterday. I was surprised at how high the river still is. It was up to the trail, and in some low spots on the trail it was over the trail. One of my trees - a good way back from the "normal" river edge was surrounded by water. Thick muck everywhere. Mosquitoes are what you would imagine. It was interesting! |

I'm curious if anyone knows how the rivers are doing? Is flooding still an issue in certain parts of the state? _________________ Hmm... |

Here's the site I use to watch the rivers around the state (and at the cabin):
http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/index.php?wfo=dlh&view=1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1&toggles=10,7,8,2,9,15,6
It looks like there is just some minor flooding in the central part of the state. _________________ Ahhhhhhhh, the power of cheese! |

There is still some minor flooding along the MN river around Montevideo. It is presently about a foot and a half above flood stage. It hasn't really gone down much below flood stage the whole summer. We have had a lot of rain around here this year. They are predicting more rain for later today and into tonight so I don't see it going below flood stage anytime soon.
Most of my caches are accesible but it might be a bit muddy to get to them. _________________ King of the Jeff Gordon TB's!

| I went down to the MN river at the end of Normandale in Bloomington this week. I wasn't able to go very far. The water level is starting to come down, but the river trails there are still basically under water. |

| Even when the river returns back to normal, mud could be an issue for awhile. |

| The Cannon is still three feet high. We need the water to go way down before it's safe for geocaching. |

The Red River near Moorhead has flooded AGAIN after receiving 3 inches of rain in 75 minutes. I was about to make a road trip to activate my disabled caches--but it is suppose to rain hard again tonight. _________________ Summer is too short |

| The Sauk is flooded. It is a Really Bad Idea to try canoeing on the Sauk right now. Three water rescues have been done in Stearns County in the past week. It looked like a photo of our own Kurt_Franke in the St. Cloud Times, in one of the rescues that the St. Cloud Fire Dept. did. |

| Can someone tell me a good way to check river conditions? I was thinking of taking the aged parents kayaking on the Cannon in a couple of weeks, and without reading this thread, I woulda blithely set off for Cannon Falls without thinking the obvious thought that since every other river is overflowing in the Midwest perhaps it might be too. . . . is there a website or something? phone numbers? |
