I'm still trying to figure out how to go about this. What I'd really like is to be able to simply give them extended contact information (phone numbers, address) for "knowschad". That is really all they should require and it really angers me that they used my tax dollars in such a foolish and frivolous way as to create a redundant and soon-to-be outdated database and website in an effort to fix something that wasn't really ever broken.
I will most likely end up pulling them, but I am currently still in civil disobedience mode. _________________ Alcohol & calculus don't mix. Don't drink & deriv |

While I am in your camp, I more or less just wanted to know what my fellow cachers intentions are.
What you going to do with the Old Nelson Place? |

Now, that is a good question. I might leave it there until they ask for a hint. _________________ Alcohol & calculus don't mix. Don't drink & deriv |

Ok, I'll bite. What option did I forget?
Let them be and wait for them to go out and find them? I considered that. But then most of mine are ammocans and I'd hate to lose them all. |

You missed one of the possible answers-
NO, and I don't plan to archive either. I plan to let it go and see what they will do! _________________ Airborne All the Way! |

They'll archive them (or more specifically, I will).
Dakota County has a list of caches in their parks. Caches that aren't registered by the deadline will be archived very shortly thereafter "by request of the property manager" (ie. Dakota County).
As to what happens to the container itself, I'm not sure. |

I plan on performing one of the legitimate items listed in my poll. While I agree with Knowschad that the system is a "stupid waste of money", I ain't losing sleep over it.
Pearhead, or MN Fruitcake, just so you know, as MY way of protesting, I'll be registering the ones I want to keep by 11:59 PM on New Years Eve. Keep that in mind when the park system is back from their New Years party and they start begging you to archive caches. If there's lag in their processing time, that's their problem. My notification said I have until December 31st so that's what I intend on doing. |

That is pretty much what I have been thinking of, as well. I will admit that I had given serious consideration to leaving them there to see what happened, but if they are going to be archived, it would give the appearance of leaving geotrash behind, even once I did pick up the containers, and that would not be a good thing.
I'm guessing I will begrudgingly register a few that I really want to keep, and archive the rest. _________________ Alcohol & calculus don't mix. Don't drink & deriv |

Come to think of it, that really is some pretty crappy civil disobedience, isn't it? OK, so I am extremely sort of committed to my principles. _________________ Alcohol & calculus don't mix. Don't drink & deriv |

Can you be more specific? Does this include all parks in every town in Dakota county, or just Dakota county type parks like Lebanon Hills? |

Well, I did it. Not happy about it, but I did it.
Some issues with the process:
* The form asks for cache name, but not for GC#. Probably best to use GC#, but I didn't.
* There is no method of entering coordinates for a multi-cache.
* Most importantly, there is no way to review or edit what you entered. I am reasonably certain that I entered wrong coordinates for at least one cache, but there is no way for me to know for sure, or to fix it if I did. _________________ Alcohol & calculus don't mix. Don't drink & deriv |
