Hello everyone
I am coming to you for some great ideas. I am on a work group with the DNR that is tasked to work up a new geocaching program like the Safari and History caches.

The big trick this year is to incorporate the state trails and water trails in to the mix. The new concept has to be family friendly and easy to administer. They are not adverse to using citizen caches (new or existing).

Please think about this and I will send all ideas the workgroup.

We talked about challenges, puzzles, triathlons and earthcaches. So think out of the box. Please send me your ideas on PM.
Thanks
Andy

For the trails have a program that for every "x" number of caches found along the trail you can earn points. After X number of points you can earn dnr stuff like the passport club has today. The number of caches per trail would have to be much higher than passports or the state parks as many trails have caches that are pretty close to one another. It's not like state parks where you'll spend an hour or more per park, then have to drive for while to get to the next park. Also I don't think you can have a challenge to complete all caches on a trail for example as caches come and go all the time making that tough to accomplish. I think it would have to be just based on numbers.

Don't some of the State Parks have hiking clubs? I know I have medallions for my walking stick that I have purchased at a few parks we have visited. I would think something like that would be a nice prize, versus a coin. Walk X number of miles, get X number of caches, or certain caches, get a prize. Puzzles incorporating parks and trails. Codes/clues left in caches in one park/trail, lead you to a final in another.

Keep in mind that both the Passport Club and the Hiking Club require an upfront purchase to get started where the geocaching program has not (yet).

Then you're lucky - it should be $14.95.

I completed three passport books in 2008/2009 doing SP challenges. Even at $15 each, the free camping well made up for it.
