|
|
I have a few ultra rare geocoins that were only minted in small quantities and were some of the highest quality geocoins made. They are GC Trackable and feature a...lets say MN Theme to them...
I had been saving them for trading for something really special because of their limited availability and high desirability (one sold for over $100 on Ebay a few years back), but I really want to get a iPad and am trying to save money and think I'll try selling them instead. With GCF coming up, it seems like the right time and place to find coin buyers with the funds and understanding to pay a fair price for such rare coins... but because of scarceness of these I can't find much in the way of them on any trading or selling sites (including ebays completed auctions), so I have no idea what a fair value for these would be; can any coin-buffs help direct me to a way that I might be able to determine a fair value for each coin?

Please don't make a bid here; this isn't the sale section of the forum, I'm asking about how to determine fair market value..this should be a valid question for any coin. |

| Be still my heart. I'm missing one of those. You can NOT find them anywhere! I hope the price you figure out is in my range. |

I don't want to rain on your dream of a big sale at GCF, but to sell at any Geocoinfest sponsor event you need to be a vendor, and have signed the vendor agreement. If anyone is caught selling they will be ask to leave.
An event like this is very expensive to host. It is made posible, by the support of the vendors. If anyone could just grab a table and start selling, why would any vendor support the event. This rule have been in place in any mega event that has vendors.
If anyone need more informatin on this, please e-mail me. |

| I doubt that's the method he'd use just to get rid of 3 coins but he might have to come up with some creative advertising to get anyone to look his way. Maybe displayed inside a trench coat that you slyly open to show the goods? |

It does not matter if it is 1 or 100 coins. If you are thinking of selling at Gecoinfest you need to be a vendor.
Also I hope people would know that if you are caught flashing you will also be asked to leave. It should be a family friendly event. |

I might have a couple of these in my loose collection of unactivated coins at home. I'm not talking the ultra rare colors, but the green and such, if anyone would be interested. I would have to double check on them to be sure though. _________________ King of the Jeff Gordon TB's!

Is this to include trading a coin for a coin? _________________ King of the Jeff Gordon TB's!

No, You can trade coins for coins, all day. Trading is one of the reason this event was created for. Trading coins for money is selling and that is limited to vendors only. |

I've never been to a GCF before, but I wasn't planning on setting up a table...but I figured that if I approached a vendor table, they would selling AND buying coins...maybe I'm wrong and they are simply there to sell goods, but at other (not geocaching) coin shows I've been to, vendors are looking to make a profit by buying coins from attendees and re-sell them for a profit. If that is not withing the bounds of GCF, that is fine, best to know know. Thanks for the heads up. |

The vendors will be more then happy to sell you new geocoins! I have not seen any vendor that buys geocoins, maybe a new venture for vendors. At GW8 there was one person that did pay to be a vendor and sell a personal collection of geocoins.
Geocoinfest was created for trading coins and for vendor to show/sell the new geocoins.
There are several new coins for GCF. Some have been made public, below are a couple of examples. I have seen some others the have not been made public, but I hope that I will have time to shop.
Wolf song by anne.and.eli
zelanzy has a topic about his coins here.
Jakalgirl has an LE version of her Lotus Compass for GCF - Sold by Geocoin Club.

| Ok, so we have gotten a bit off topic perhaps, re-focusing; so I won't be selling the coins at the GCF, but I'd still like to know if there is a way to value the coins for possible sale in the future. I'd really like to get that iPad and so unloading a few of my treasured more rare coins is probably a good way to help meet my goal, I don't want to under price them, nor do I want to overprice them. Anyone have any thoughts? |
