We're doing some server work for the evening. Sorry for the inconvenience.
at 4:00 am ??
Better at 4am than 9am. At least that way most people aren't using the site.
|
The point was that I never heard 4 am referred to as the evening. |

I'm getting lots of "Server Error in "/" Application" messages tonight--last night, I was able to log 11 finds with no problem in about 45 minutes, and now, I'm still trying to log 4 finds, 3 TBs, and 5 DNFs after about 3 hours. I thought Jod fixed all that stuff!!! Granted, I have been drinking, too, but that wouldn't cause all these time out messages!!! _________________ There comes a time in every young boy's life when he gets an irresistible urge to seek buried treasure.--Mark Twain |

| I've gotten the Server Error message a couple of times tonight... If this is just the beginning of April, what is the middle of the summer going to be like? |

I figure they will sell out to another corporation and persuade them to give a large amount of money to throw more hardware at the problem.
Maybe we can all have another hissy fit and fight over diecast again!

| The weekend wait times and "server too busy" messages on CG.com are getting excessively frustrating. So Jeremy and Co. still don't have enough money to add some bandwidth and server space? |

I don't think their problem is bandwidth nor server *space*, it's server time (and I'm sure many other problems).
I tried to log in around 1am this morning and found the site down for maint. I investigated in the forums and found this:
http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=96668&st=0&#entry1447247:
On Tuesday April 26 at 11:00 PM PDT (GMT -7), we will be performing some hardware upgrades to our primary database server as well as installing a second read-only database server. This work is anticipated to take 2-3 hours, and during this time, Geocaching.com and all related services except for the forums will be offline. |

| GC.com has been screaming all day today. Maybe the maintenance they claim to have done this week did some good after all. One can only hope... |

I assume you're kidding? I couldn't get to the New Caches in Minnesota page, search for nearest caches, or various other things. It kept timing out on me. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

Actually, I was serious. I've been able to log caches with almost no delay today. I logged 10 found caches and 3 bugs, and edited one of my caches. I did have problems getting the new caches in MN page, it kept sending me off to some other page. But speed was not nearly the problem today that it has been on other weekends. We shall see...Of course, maybe it just likes me better, SB! |

| FWIW, I haven't had any trouble at all with GC.com today, but last weekend was an exercise in frustration. |

I've been doing all kinds of stuff ... submitting new caches, editing caches, archiving caches, search nearest caches, continually checking the Minnesota newest, deleting logs, uploading graphics ...
no trouble all day |
