I haven't looked at them, but they're probably the list of the oldest caches in a region, or of King Boreas himself. (he's got 2000 hides. |

It's been fun. Since local caching has been unexciting for me for quite some time I've had to set goals to stay interested in the game. |

| If anyone is planning to get GC12 (Oregon's oldest) and want some assistance please send me a note. It is a 1/1, but should really be rated much higher because the description is nonexistent, the coords are way off and it is in the middle of a thick forest with unnamed roads. it was the toughest 1/1 that I have ever done and took longer than the two 5/5's that I have done. |

LOL. My original plans for 2011, before they fell through, were to do the WA and OR routes. I had to settle for KS and CO instead. The plans for 2012 are to try again to complete the WA and OR route. I'll take any advice you can give.. I'd love to add it to the notes I have from others to help find the best approach. |

Okay, this should get you to GC12 pretty easily. From Highway 26 go South on McCabe Road ('Look For the Wright Stump' is right on it). That turns into Pagh Road and takes you West to Finwood Road. Go left on Finwood to Wildcat Mountain Dr (Last and First Stop). Turn left on Wildcat Mountain Dr and proceed to 45 18.395 122 04.744. There will be two small roads leading toward the cache from there. Take the road on the right and it will take you to a trail that goes off to the right. The cache is on the left side of the trail and was about 20-30 feet past where my Oregon was telling me that it should be. You will have to do some bushwacking. It is not a terrain 1 cache.
I didn't look for the other old ones that are so close because this one took WAY too much time and my family was ready to hit the road. It would have been nice to have some of this information in the description (especially since it is a 1/1) but I was not about to complain in my log about the second oldest active geocache in the world.
Good luck. I'm sure your story won't be nearly as interesting as mine if you use this information. |

| Next weekend I'm going to be near Alvins Phone Line. It sounds like the hardest part is finding the trail head just off the road. Can anyone please give me any advise or wisdom? |

Go straight through the homestead and hang a right. You should not miss the trail.. like I did coming in from the north. |

It was very cool, literally and figuratively. Windchills up there were brutal. |

| Zoom in on the satellite image on google maps. You can see the E/W trail to the cache, and a couple different trails from the yard/driveway to get to it. When I was there, it was cut with a lawnmower, pretty obvious |
