I've just pulled up the caches for that state on geocaching.com and then sort by "placed" (click on "placed" twice to get the oldest at the top). That is doable when I'm away from the GSAK database (i.e. at work).

That sounds easy, but how do you pull up the caches for a state (other than MN)?

Go here and then under seek a cache, select the state and then do what Mrs. Mizzou says to sort.

I've now found the oldest active cache in about 22 states. If you want any hints or advice on anything, feel free to ask here or in PM. Some of them are pretty lame and some are darn nice. If you want any MUST DOs from a list of states you're visiting, let me know that as well.

Have you found the Washington and Oregon oldest? Those are probably the only two I would be able to get, unless ND, SD, or ID are close to the highway.

No, but I have some notes. ND is right on the Interstate. SD is way off the beaten path. ID I have not done but it's also way off the beaten path, a good 40-60 miles off the interstate.

I found Delaware's oldest active cache today. Very nice hike but watch out for the biting flies.

That is what I thought.
So that puts this one a little out of the way for a east west stop by just by like 2 miles matbe more. Not a hard cache bay any means but still worth it as a old cache.

I did a little research on oldest caches. It looks like Kansas has the oldest active cache in the world (GC30) and Washington has the lowest number (GC8). GC12, in Oregon, is the second oldest in the world.

Alvin's Phone Line is actually the oldest in Minnesota (even though it was registered after Oxbow):

The original listing for Alvin's (which many don't realize) was GCAA:

I was going to say that Alvin's is generally accepted as the oldest. Perhaps I should have... Confused

Done them both. Alvin's was more of an adventure.
