Completed oldest active caches for RI, MA, NH, ME and VT. Completing NY's oldest today.

- RI, VERY SWEET location. I need a new job in order to own one of those homes.
- MA, this was my toughest oldest cache to get to so far.
- NH, no comments good or bad. Just a cache.
- ME, Near a lighthouse on the coast, VERY SWEET.
- VT, anyone that knows me will know that I LOVE offroading. If you like the same, this cache is for you. LOVED it. 1500' elevation change up a Vermont mountain to get to this one.

I've never been out here before north of NYC. Fell in love with the place. Every place out here is gorgeous. Driving the mountain roads of NH and VT especially fun for me.

Found NY's oldest cache yesterday. BY FAR the hardest one to get to in terms of terrain out of ALL of the oldest caches I've done to date.

Found Maryland's oldest cache yesterday. I've found MANY oldest active caches in each state and this ranks up there in the top five in terms of fun. Cache is near an active railroad with a tunnel. Got to sit and watch the trains coming and going through the tunnel.

What is the easiest way to find the oldest cache in a state? I'm planning a road trip to the West coast this Summer and I'm looking forward to finding GC12 in Oregon. I will be passing through SD, ND WY, MT, ID and WA as well, so it would be fun to grab some other old ones.

I'd run a PQ based on the placed date for a state. You'd probably need to dump it into GSAK so you could then sort by that date.

Thanks for the quick response. And, by the way, thanks for the quick cache publication last night. I have never had one published that quickly before. I had to rush out to the cache site to drop the FTF prize and TB that I had failed to put in the cache when I placed it.

I've just pulled up the caches for that state on geocaching.com and then sort by "placed" (click on "placed" twice to get the oldest at the top). That is doable when I'm away from the GSAK database (i.e. at work).

That sounds even better! I wasn't aware that the columns were sortable (probably because I don't hardly ever use that view).

That sounds easy, but how do you pull up the caches for a state (other than MN)?

I figured it out. I never knew that you could put a state in the search box on the main GC.com page and get all the caches in a state. That is cool.
