Just saw the latest REI ad, and they have an Oregon 300 for $250... Which is something I've had my eye on for a while now. On the Garmin website, I don't see much of a difference between the 300 and the 400... Maps seem to be the only real difference I can find.
How about in the real world? I have a Delorme PN-20, and I've spent a lot of time wishing I'd gotten a PN-40 instead... Then again, the grass always seems greener on the other side... Anyone out there with an Oregon 300 that wished they'd saved their money and gotten a 400 instead? Or anyone who got one and wanted to throw it away because it's a hunk of junk? Anyone use both of them and see big differences?
Thanks,

functionality there is no difference between the 300 and the 400. Do a compare on the garmin web site and you will see that the only difference between the 300, 400i, 400c, and 400t are the map sets.
Unless you care about Topo, Blue Chart or Inland Lakes, go with the 300. You are still going to have to buy City Navigator North America if you want detailed street maps. _________________ Airborne All the Way! |
