Did anyone catch Extreme Makeover last night? It was the family from Superior and they are geocachers. Pretty nice they sent them on a cache hunt to find their new car in Hawaii. I'm lucky if I find my own vehicle after I cache. _________________ Effective parks and recreation facilities do not just happen on their own. Go to CBS.com
and you can watch the whole episode.
But the Geocache part is at the last part of the show.
They break it down into 2 parts it is in the 2nd part.
The car is not the only thing that they find. _________________ ---------------------------------------------------

They didn't mention it on the show but I've tried a few google searches assuming they found at least one cache while in Hawaii. I haven't been able to figure it out though. _________________ Tupperware doesn't belong in the kitchen! |

I was thinking I could figure it out by limiting my search to geocaching.com and googling some combinations of: extreme makeover, vacation, hawaii, wisconsin, superior
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site%3Ageocaching.com+%22extreme+makeover%22
I also went to geocaching.com and pulled up an older cache near South Range, WI and went through all the logs and looked at many of the profiles to see if they listed firefighter as their occupation, had finds in Hawaii, or posted pictures to their gallery that would confirm it was them but found nothing. _________________ Tupperware doesn't belong in the kitchen! |

What are the chances EskoClimber knows any firemen across the bridge? |

I went through the logs of Critter Condo, which is a pretty quick find very near to their house, with no luck.

They probably have like 5 finds, ha, ha. I didn't quite catch on the show that they found a "real" cache. The one with the treasure box on the beach was a set-up, not a real one....if it was real, I'd go there and get me one of those Disney vacations that was inside. _________________ Effective parks and recreation facilities do not just happen on their own. I'm not sure a Hawaii find would be a give-away. I think only the real hard-core cachers would be interested in finding a cache while on vacation in Hawaii. Your average cacher that has a hundred finds over a year or two probably doesn't think "cache" when given a trip to Hawaii. _________________ Hmm... |

lol So does that make me hard core or average?
334 finds in 7 years but found 4 caches in Hawaii including this one
After reading this article where they say they only had 3 days in Hawaii and "And their days were rigorously scheduled, down to the clothing they wore.", I don't think there will be a find in Hawaii.
Looks like the Wisconsin Geocaching Association doesn't know their geocaching handle either.
I looked through most of the profiles that found the near by GCJR06 Windmill Cache (183 finds), figured it was one of the easiest to find in the area so odds are they would have found it. None of the profiles were obviously them and really after looking at the occupation, location, and/or early finds/caches placements - none of them seemed to fit. Of course some of my assumptions could be wrong (wouldn't be the first time [i.e. I assumed location of Duluth, MN was a no]), but I'm wondering if their interest in geocaching wasn't part of the 'hollywood magic'. Either way it was good to get some national pub for geocaching and if they are geocachers, might be a good interview for Sir Zman, though I guess a bit of a stretch for Twin Cities. |
