Does anyone have any experience using Garmin's discontinued nRoute navigation software?

Everything has been working fine for years. But starting this last weekend, whenever I plug a GPS into the laptop, all of the map detail goes away in nRoute. Unplug the GPS, map detail comes back. Strange.. and annoying.
