Just an FYI, looks like Halloween 2009 will happen but the logistics have yet to be worked out. Here are some notes I have so far..
- Cache density has grown tremendously this last year which will likely increase placement area.
- In order to make room for 2009, ALL remaining 2007 and 2008 caches will likely be pulled in the process.
- Placement in Dakota County parks will be very limited.
- The likelihood of seeing another toe-pincher-like bonus cache is pretty slim. We had grandiose ideas for this fall but will most likely be scaled way back.
- Last year KB offered Crosby Lake as the primary (or sole) hidey hole for 2009. As grateful as I am, I believe Crosby to be way too busy for the series, though it seems to be up there in the "scary" realm, if you know what I mean.
- I thought of going further south but that would most likely exclude more cachers rather than draw more cachers in.
Looking for ideas. Looking for "space donors". Heck, even looking for those interested in investing ideas, time or cash (spelled correctly) to the cause. |

| I know of a few great places in Lakeville (Northern and Southern) that are spacious, tucked away, and not used very much. PM me if you are interested in going that far down for any of the hides. |

| Personally we don't mind if they're out of town a ways - we vote to place them closer together to make it easier to get them all in one evening. We've had a lot of fun the last couple years doing them in the dark but spent a lot of time driving from cache to cache. Looking forward to the 2009 series! |

| I was looking at Party City and was getting some ideas. As far as areas I think that there should be plenty of area in Southern Scott county, largely Belle Plaine and Jordan. |

Not quite what I had in mind as being a little further south. I know of three places where I could plant the entire series but all three are 20 miles out of the metro (my direction). |

Wonder if UMore Park in Rosemount would let you put caches in there? _________________ If you're successful in what you do over a period of time, you'll start approaching records, but that's not what you're playing for. You're playing to challenge and be challenged.--Lou Brock |

Nope. Not only do they have a no geocaching policy, they have a NO off trail policy because of the alleged contamination. I think the contamination thing is over rated since the ammo plant was open all of 5 days back in the 1940's. But what do I know?? Not much.
BTW, for the urban explorers out there, don't get caught in ore property on the posted lands. You WILL get a trespassing charge. |

So Halloween is just a couple of days away. Did you give up on the notion of Halloween caches this year Bflentje? They have been really enjoyable but it would be understood if you skipped it this year and stayed the heck out of Dakota Co. Parks.... _________________ If you're successful in what you do over a period of time, you'll start approaching records, but that's not what you're playing for. I had started building Halloween 2009 caches some time ago but struggled with two different issues..
- the plans I had were just as grandiose or bigger than Coughin Up A Lung. I don't think next time I'll get a warning from the county.
- cache density on my end of town has grown so much in the last year that there weren't too many options if you remove county parks from the scene.
As much as it bugs the heck out of me, my plans are to skip 2009. I plan to try and work something out with county park officials to have the entire series located in a single park for 2010. If Dakota county isn't willing to work with my ideas, and stay within Groundspeak guidelines, I'll have to figure something else out.. or commit geo-cide and give up. |

( commit geo-cide and give up. )
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I WANT AT LEAST SOME FUN CACHES AROUND WHEN I MAKE IT HOME TO SEE THA FAMILY.
I look forword to seeing alot of new and interesting hides back home when I get the time off to visit.
There are not alot of caches here in town so I have tended to put off doing alot at once I will do a couple every month just so I get my fix.
But seeing Bart commit geo-cide would be just to depressing. _________________ ---------------------------------------------------
