| Not that it's a huge deal, but it looks like the park folks got Terrain/Difficulty mixed up on Garden Island... they have a 5 Difficulty and 2 Terrain. Or maybe they built a bridge out to the island since we were all there last and it is a REALLY tough hide! |

A bridge? Now that makes it a lot easier! I am heading there now. I shouldn't need a boat or plans after all. _________________ ~~ I was told all I needed was a GPS. I wanted everything else. ~~ |

| If anyone is collecting cards like me.. I mean for the point of being collectable, be aware that there seems to be some printing issue with the cards at Fort Snelling. The colors are off and they're not cut properly. |

I have noticed that... what is up with that? Are they going to have better ones out? I have a baseball card holder for a three-ring binder that I am collecting them with. _________________ ~~ I was told all I needed was a GPS. I wanted everything else. ~~ |

Does that mean those mis-prints will be worth more in the collection, sort of like the mis-stamped coins and such??? _________________ round n' round we go! |

Hi All
I attended a meeting with the State Park Safari folks today, just to see how things are going. I am looking for some feedback on a few items.
1. What is the thoughts about the Coins that are available?
2. The parks are interested in recognizing the cachers that have found all 72 caches this year, so one idea was to put out a FINAL cache in a central park for people to find and log. That way they could keep track of the finalists like last year. Plus it was a good way for some people to tell their stories.
I understand a few parks are disabling a few caches during the winter, I am getting a list of them to post.

bflentje, I asked about this and found that Fort Snelling's cards at the beginning had some typos and they made up some cards in-shop to meet the dead line. I think they have good cards now. I am sure they would trade them for you. Call then first.
Macy's has donated some money to the program and the parks are getting 96 more GPS units and may get them to more parks that are not now demo parks.
The DNR is going to send out a survey team to assess the impact on the different types of terrain that the caches are hidden. They are going to decide if the caches should be moved around to lessen the impact on the area or if it is best to leave them in place.
I am pleased that they are using us as an active partner in their decision making process.

| Andy, sorry I missed seeing your post. I would love it if they had a final 72 cache. Did they ever start one? I really missed that part when I finished up last year. |

Does anyone know of any issues with any of the state parks in the metro area? I'm looking at bagging all of the Metro region ones on Saturday. Also plan on getting a few other caches in the parks along the way. Just figured I would ask before venturing out early Saturday Morning.
I'm planning on leaving home somewhere between 5-6 a.m. and hopefully will get to MN valley rec area around 8 a.m. give or take a little bit and then plan to make a loop of them. _________________ King of the Jeff Gordon TB's!

Don't plan on grabbing any of the coins or bugs that are listed in the caches. Meralgia's hides at Afton are all worth the extra effort to go find those. I'm hoping to get most of the caches that are in the general vicinity of the SP caches. Of course I won't be doing any of the puzzle caches cause I just am no good at figuring any of them out. Hoping to get all the way through to Lake mariah by the time the parks close for the evening, but we'll just have to see. _________________ King of the Jeff Gordon TB's!

| If anything I would look at the MNDot webpage before you head out to see what's being closed and or jacked up in the metro on your chosen weekend. I know 494 is a mess between 94 and 61 on the east side of the metro. Construction more than anything could screw your timing up! |

Not a big deal, and not even sure if we're still helping maintain these cache pages (but I would assume we are) - on GC1P4ZF St Croix Islands/Boom Site, you'll see this:
| Quote: |
Attention Geocachers:
This geocache will not be available during the winter months. It will reopen in the spring.
<snip>
In the winter the stairs are not maintained so the cache will be moved to a winter location. |
Seem to conflict...[/b] |

Yup you are right. The Boom Site cache is being redone and should be available in the winter.
Sadly (IMO) the cache will not be down the stairs, that was the best part! _________________ Dinnae fash yersel (don't worry yourself) |
