My perspective on trackables may be a little different. I consider whatever I spend on geocoins, trackable tags, cache containers and swag to be a legitimate investment in my hobby, much as a model builder buys glue and paint, a rocketeer buys engines, a SCUBA diver buys air for dive tanks, and so on. In other words, these items are (ultimately) expendable.
The fun is in the release and tracking of these items. The good feeling one gets from sharing them with other people and helping enhance the sport for them really justifies the cost, in my mind. There will always be those who don't "get it" or who just don't care: it is sad, but the negative reflection is on them, not on trackables or the multitude of diligent geocachers who release and move them on in good faith.
Some of your geocoins have had incredible journeys and very interesting log entries!
To quit releasing trackables just because they may eventually get muggled would be like a model rocketeer refusing to ever build another rocket because they could not recover a rocket they had launched after an altitude record-breaking flight (believe me, it happens -- all too frequently!).
Good luck, and happy caching!

Of the 15 items I have out there, I can only account for about 5 of them. And three of those items are virtually dropped and sitting on my desk... |

| I put my second TB up as MIA today. That puts me at 0 for 2 on TBs that I have sent on their way. On the upside though, this one saw 3 caches before vanishing. |

I have to say that I have been fairly successful with my bugs, and I am shocked. I released a Mystery Tag (a keychain that explains I am keeping the actual coin to show at events but the number is on here so that it can travel) about six months ago. It now has about 14,000 miles already.
I did this for a few coins so that I would have some coins to show at geocaching classes and every coin that I have done that with had been EXTREMELY successful. The only downside is that the company that made these went out of business. _________________ ~~ I was told all I needed was a GPS. I wanted everything else. ~~ |

Last weekend Bobcam grabbed a coin in Iowa that I set loose in Scotland. It's goal was to get to one of my caches! He is bringing it home! _________________ Dinnae fash yersel (don't worry yourself) |
