Faint of heart need not apply; I'd like to hit the 3 geocaches on Big Island sometime the week of the 13th through the 15th (any of those three days). I'd like to get all three of the following caches in one swoop;
GC1BTAZ
GCWQ6N
GC12GBW
I'd like to shoot for a meeting time of around 5pm? Headlamp/flashlights required also I'd bet snowshoes would be of pretty good use as well. I think I'd like to shoot for parking around Tonka Bay and snowshoeing in from there unless someone knows of a better route. Possibly grab a bite to eat after somewhere? Let me know who is interested!

I'd be interested in joining you anyday.
What do you think about listing this one as the WeekNIGHT Cache for that week/Wednesday?

Have fun. Those are fun caches to do and aren't found by many cachers. _________________ Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. |

| I'd love to join you but weeknights are tough with three little ones back home with a working wife. Please post the exact date if you decide to go. |

You can drive in at haskels in Excellcior and the road goes to the bay at big Island From there a short walk around the outside of the Island all 3 are close to shore no need to bushwack over land. I got all of them Last spring First on one .Have fun. _________________ Animals taste good |

I agree about driving out there, it should be fine. There's plenty of "roads" on the ice already. As for the caches, there is one of them is deep in the island. That one snow shoes are nice for. We did it last winter and the snow get's deep out there. Or just snow shoe around the island, it's nice out there. Never had been out there until I discovered geocaching.
Have fun! _________________ Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. |

Does the 14th work for everyone interested?
I don't much care for driving on the ice and I like making things harder so bushwhacking/snowshoeing to get out there is fine (see: fun) to me unless anyone wants to take the easier route and drive out there. _________________ Aurora Borealis Expeditionary League |

I love this idea. Snowshoeing is a passon of mine. I'm 97½% sure I can make Wed. work for me. I am going in for back surgery on Friday , so I'll be out of commission for a long time. |

I think this would be a perfect WeekNIGHT outing! I'd be up for it (I'm not committing yet whether I would drive or hike to the island though ) |

We have been out to the Big Island on two different occassions caching during the winter and it's a good mile hike to get out there. Both times we started our journey at the spot about 500 ft north of this cache (GCJFYV).
The same inner restraint that is keeping me from jumping out of airplanes (w/parachute) also keeps me from operating 3500lbs machinery on top of frozen water.

I think these would be a great idea for WeekNight! They are on my list of caches to do this winter.
Alas, I don't have snowshoes...but I would ride along if someone else drove! _________________ "We never seek things for themselves-what we seek is the very seeking of things"-Pascal |

The REI in Bloomington and Maple Grove both offer snowshoe rentals for those without a pair and who would like to give it a try.
edit: just called $16/day (pickup day and drop off day don't count) for members and $20/day for non-members (again, pickup day and drop off day don't count)
I really encourage those who haven't tried it to give it a shot! _________________ Aurora Borealis Expeditionary League |

| If I go I can drive. I have no problem with it so long as there's already an established ice road. I'd probably not drive the 5200 pound truck and would drive the 2500 pound Cobalt. Not very comfortable if I have more than three passengers. Checking calendar this week. |
