| For those looking for family friendly New Year's fun, our family has been snow tubing on New Year's eve for the past few years. Last year we discovered a relatively inexpensive, family-owned=family friendly, place right on the edge of Hudson. Unlike other snow tubing places, you pay one price, get a tag, and then you can tube as long as you like until they close for the day. They have a chalet for food/drinks/bathroom etc. We took a campstove and made our own hotdogs and hot cocoa along with a few other goodies and had a great time. The place http://www.badlands-snopark.com has 4 great runs from a bunny hill to the BIG HILL and as a grownup I haven't had that much fun in ages. Unlike another popular but overpriced hill, there aren't lanes that you all have to line up in and wait until they say go and then zip down and that's it. Nooooooo....this place has great runs you can go down as many times as you like either alone or hold on to as many tubes as you can and go down in a circle (5 works great!!!) or a line or whatever. I don't know why but this place also is not overcrowded. There are no long lines and no advertising. Check out their website. They've been around since the 70's but you've probably never heard of the place! The price for big kids is $15 (little kids 5 and under $5) and you can ride for hours! They close at 9 or 10 that night so you can head home or elsewhere before the drinking crowds hit the road. We'll be there again this year so feel free to come and join us! |
