Due to at least one well respected geocacher expressing a desire to have my cache, Moving 123, archived, I have decided to leave it up to the members of MNGCA to make the ultimate decision. Of course the administrators at geocaching.com are able to archive this one anytime they'd like to. Use the poll to express your opinion and/or write a note. Thanks everyone for their input.

I have yet to get a chance to hunt this one down, but would like a shot
at it - So I'd say do NOT archive it.
Since I first started geocaching, 123 has been one of my favorite's to keep track of - see whos moving it, where. Its been a great success, with many people participating.
I see no reason why another cacher should care about YOUR cache. Let him worry about his own.
I'd say just by the number of hides/moves it has made- that most would think it shuold remain active.
*If there is some legitimate reason for archiving it, I'd like to hear it |

I haven't done 123 and have been planning on doing it (so many to do and never enough time) and would love for it to stick around at least for others to enjoy... Might I ask what their reasoning was for its archival (other than the fact that it is a grandfathered moving cache)? Perhaps they have a better understanding of what could possibly go wrong with this moving cache than those of us that are newer to the game?

RJ, did you check with you-know-who on this?
I'm pretty sure he was yanking you-know-what to get a reaction, and wasn't serious at all about wanting 123 archived.

P.S. I voted to archive it. I always vote for the underdog or the non-incumbent. |

It is the nature of the cache that it hic-ups once in awhile, but that's part of the fun of it. I still want to find it. It is nice to watch how polite people are, noting that they are going for it and others then waiting to hear if it was found and where it is placed, before taking their turn. I like to see this politeness, on the net of all places, in this hurried, pushy, I'm first, get out of my way, world. PLEASE leave it running. _________________ Save the earth.

If I was serious, I wouldn't have deleted the message.
The *frozen* coordinates for the cache deny me a spot to put a cache that I worked on during my previous hours of pursuit near Hastings/Red Wing.
I wonder if mtn-man would let you make a one-time change in the coordinates since it was approved as a moving cache.
Some of the comments are, um, interesting.
I'm not going to respond to any of them here.
BTW, I cancelled out rickrich's vote. _________________ Joined: 16 Dec 2002

KB, I will work on getting the coordinates moved so a cache can be put where Moving 123 is supposedly placed. I never thought about that before.
As for this thread, I won't be archiving the cache. Thanks everyone for your input. |

That's great news RJ - it's one of my top 3 caches I've found. |

OK --- taking this thread off on a slightly different tangent
- sorry to you forum purists Forgive me.
But, I have a thought and a question.....
I wonder how many caches have been placed *because* of 123?
All three times I have touched it there has been a permanent cache eventually placed because of 123.
First time was in Zimmerman at the POW memorial, next time was Ham Lake (great spot!) and now this time Moe wants to put a cache on King's Island. (which is a cool place with LOTS of possibilities - heheheh)
I think somebody put a cache at one of tricolor's hiding spots..... any others? |

Current and past -- I meant caches that get placed at or near a spot where 123 has been.
A spot where you go---- "cool" and it just needs a cache after 123 is gone. |

My "Creekside Solitude" and "Mrs. Ippiriver" caches are both places I hid "Moving 123". CBGPSRS also placed a permanent cache near where he hid 123 up near Hugo. _________________ "Hi, I'm Moe, or as the women know me - Hey! You in the bushes."

| Actually, my Maximum Exposure cache I just placed last week was the original launching point for m123. I just never got around to hiding a new one there. Not the most scenic of locations but a location nonetheless. Thanks Centris for the cool thought! |
