That's the trick I think. I think it'd be easier to cache if you were single than if you were retired. No kids to haul around to swimming, dance, and soccer. No homework. No mouths to feed but your own. No home to cleanup.. Sounds refreshing. Just kidding honey.

You said it, bflentje! I love the family, but ... for instance ... yesterday I was in Northfield, MN. Never cached there. Had the GPSr loaded and stats printed out. But do you think we could get a cache in? No. Spent three hours standing in the hot sun watching my daughter and teammates running cross-country (what...they can't look for a cache while they're running!?). And after that long a time standing in the sun, no one other than me wanted to hike for caches, so back in the car for the two hour drive home. Rats!

Yeah . . . . it's so sad when the family just doesn't get it. I have 5 kids and can I get any of them to cache with me? Not usually.

I met a ten year old cache enthusiast up in Brainerd who was dragging his parents caching and we had a pretty funny conversation about how great caching is and why don't "they" get it. I thought about adopting him.

On the other hand at least hubby can watch the kids while I go caching so there is that. The ones I am really envious of are the couple cachers. I'd love to spend a whole day or weekend or week caching like that.

Huh? Are you kidding me? If you're retired and can only find two days a week to cache in (like us single, but working folks) then you're probably living too close to the kids and need to move about 500 miles away.

I will say that the lack of honey-do's sure does help. No "But you cached LAST weekend!!!" or "We've been invited to the Flenje's to play bridge next weekend, honey. Did you forget?"

Bridge?? Shocked Probably more likely to have you over to work on Halloween caches out in the garage.

I see the word 'bridge' and immediately I'm thinking of all the places to look for a cache! Laughing

Well, it looks Bobcam's weekend in Iowa went as planned. He found 176 caches, leaving 61 caches for today through Thursday, to get to 5,000. His count as on Monday morning is 4,939. If Bobcam works at a 40 hour per week job, not sure how easy it will be to get 62 more. I am not sure how far away he needs to drive to get to an area with 62 caches. Go Bobcam!

61 to go. He has until sometime on Friday to get them, depending on what time of day it was when he found #1 on 09/26/07. And then there's the issue of this being a leap year. If he takes 366 days, maybe it shouldn't count. Wink

Way to go! What an incredible accomplishment. At our rate, we should get to 5000 caches by around 2058.

That's pretty crazy. Congratulations! I wish I had more time and gas money to devote to caching. Sad
