this may be dumb, but all a geocoin is a tracking bug with neat designs on them?

Yes and no... They are very similar, they both have missions, and the pages are pretty much the same, but one difference is that a coin can have a icon associated with it, when you log a find or discovery, your trackables page then shows that coins icon. Another difference is that coins are made in batches, usually larger than 100 for each design, so there will be several coin trackables with the same design, where TB's are usually fairly unique.

There is also another significant difference between a geocoin and a travelbug. People will keep your geocoin that you released into the wild because they want to add it to their collection whereas people's children will keep your travelbug and discard the travelbug tag because they like the toy that is attached to it.

haha, well i just bought a couple geocoins. I noticed that there are a couple TB tags out there with and without stuffed animals on them.
