The nominees for Cache of the Month in August of 2008 are…

GC1BKXC: 1st Annual Bluebell Cache by Chapskis1, pharryt06 and altura
Nominated by 83pony
I would like to nominate this cache because it is located in a beautiful setting in the valley of Carley State Park with a river flowing through it, and includes an interesting river crossing (if the river isn't too high) It is a 3 stage Multi with some nice hiking thru the woods. It does include some moderate hill climbing on the trail. I found this to be a fun cache to find (and challenging for me), with a cool owner, as I met him when I went to find the cache (and FTF). However, a State Park Permit will be required to enter the park. This is not the official State Park Cache. Several other caches are located here as well, including the Official State Park Cache.

GC1DMZK: Banks of the Kettle by bouffantloup
Nominated by EskoClimber
I would like to nominate this cache because it is part of three caches that take you for a nice walk along the Kettle River by Sturgeon Lake. These gentle multis provide a fun walk on the high banks overlooking the river and the rapids. They also bring you by some unknown DNR camp sites that can be accessed either by water or by land. I stopped at Kettle River Canoe Stop for tea and lunch and listened to the river flowing along.
(Related Caches to this nomincation: GC1DN0K: Banks of the Kettle, Part II and GC1DMZ4: Kettle River Canoe Stop)

GC1AAR9: Fargnot Legendarium: Puzzle Cache by Fargnot
Nominated by Pear Head
I recently traveled to Bemidji for work. There's nothing like living out of a hotel and working for 8 hours a day... What to do with the rest of the time?
A) Sit around and watch TV
B) Geocache?

The first day I was in town I printed off a number of the puzzle cache pages to solve in my spare time. Among them were five caches in the Legendarium series. This was a series that the Fargnots put out near the end of this past winter to keep the Bemidji area cachers busy. According to Allan and Cindy, they spent a couple of months putting the series together, and expected it to take quite a while for folks to solve the puzzles. To their surprise, most of the FTFs came in just a few days.

I'm outlining the Farnot Legendarium: Puzzle Cache today. The puzzle, like most of the puzzles they've put out, is intended to be "solvable". No super-difficult-double-cipher-stand-on-your-head-close-your-left-eye-cough-three-times-and-read-between-the-lines puzzles. In other words, pfalstad wouldn't be the "sole target audience" for this one.

The puzzle itself is fairly straightforward; with the small twist of the fact that it's a night cache. I've done a number of night caches now, and I have loved every single one of them. They are, by far, my favorite type of cache, and the fun is multiplied if you can get 2 or more people together to do them.

The cache is simple enough - follow the reflectors around a park area that has some wide trails. Part of the cache is on the trail with a little bit of off-trail (dare I say bushwacking even). A good mix for
a cache.

The effort that the Fargnots have put into this cache and others in the area, from the cache page, container and cammo, and hide placement shows just how much they really do care about caching in the area.
Thanks Fargnots!

The vote will not start until August 24th to allow everyone time to find the nominated caches that wish to do so. Also, please feel free to post reviews or thoughts on the nominated caches in this thread if you have found them.

To nominate caches for August, just email me at ArcherDragoon@yahoo.com or PM me here or post your nomination for September in Taking Nominations for the Month of September 2008

Thank-you,
