WPog and I have picked up Devil Duck #10 at Hidden Falls -- I also notice at least two others roaming about the metro.

Does anyone know what their purpose is? or if they have a goal of some sort?
I did a search on the big forum with no decent results.

This one we have has a slight wear spot on the front of his neck about the width of an electrical tie and a cut on the back of it's neck about the size of the end of a TBug tag. I am wondering if they were once Tbugs?
Remember the "Make Way for Ducklings" ducks that came through here? These are that exact same size - but red with horns.

I found #8 in Floral Park yesterday and dropped it off in Tony Schmidt Park. It too had the slice on the back of it's neck.

Looks like Jeremy has released 7 devil ducks for the 7 deadly sins. Could these non-bugged devils with higher numbers (higher than 7) be related? Also, check out the ID # on the first one.

Yes, we saw Jeremy's Deadly Ducks before -- this do look identical to them
I will keep looking -- I think they do have some purpose other than just hanging out in caches and it would be really sad for their owner if he/she thinks they are lost. The ones we have here all came from Illinios.

I think it is more than a coincidence that the two ducks you and I found have similar cut marks, we might head out after the 3rd one to see if it is the same.

I might be REALLY daring and actually post something on the big forum (which I normally avoid at all costs)

In researching this issue, I found that I have Devil Duck #3 in my posession, it was placed on Nov 15 in GC9A96 by John C, he also dropped off DD#2 on Nov 2 in GC4E56, and dropped off DD#1 on Oct 27 in GCA022. There might be a pattern here that could use some more research.

Indeed! Well I posted something to the big site -- no reply yet.
Maybe these are John's bugs???
But this one we have definately looks like it used to have a tag of some sort on it. Is yours cut on the neck too?

So the only ones not accounted for are 4 thru 7?

DD # 3 is not cut on the neck. Just by coincidence, I was planning on leaving DD # 3 in Christmas Candy cache in exchange for Super Surfer Duck TB, but there was not enough room in the cache.

A month ago (11/30) my kids and I found one of these at http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=44612

The back of the neck was cut. I didn't notice wear on the front. No tag, so my son's friend (who was with us on his first geocaching outing) took him. I didn't notice a number. This one is lost.

Crying or Very sad

We found devil duck #1 in the GCA022 cache at the Halloween Hoopla. The youngest member of the JellyBelly family has been playing with it since. It too has the slit at the back of the neck, but no wear on the neck or front. Just the #1 written on the bottom. Twisted Evil

The answer is no -- we never did find out who put them out or where they came from. Best guess was Illinios.

Ian put out a series of DeVille ducks which are NOT the same as these poor sad Devil Ducks that came through (with the sliced up necks). His DeVille ducks are loggable and trackable on a website and plainly marked as "travel ducks" -- the devil ducks that were referred to in this original posting are still a mystery.

Did you find one lately?? I never found any more after I dropped the original one I found -- I think they may have all gone MIA.
