| My cache, Parallel Paths, in Minneapolis was recently reported missing. Armed with a new film container to replace it, I went there only to discover that the hole I had the cache in was now a home to some sort of small rodent. The edges were chewed away and there was sawdust covering the ground beneath it. So I had to search for a new place to hide it, but couldn't find a good one. The cache is still disabled until I find a new place. This is actually not the first time a cache I've hidden or attempted to find has been "found" by small rodents. Ever see the corners chewed off of tupperware containers? |

| I have actually emailed Jeremy concerning this matter. His response was that since a chipmunk doesn't actually know how to use a computer, or set up a geocaching account, there's really nothing he can do about it. I protested but lost the argument. If anyone sees this rascally rodent, please ask him to contact me before removing any more of my caches. It's just common courtesy... |

I had hidden the first stage of my Blackhawk Down cache as a 35mm film cannister. Articabn had reported it missing and then later found it on the ground under some leaves in the area where it should have been.
Articabn put it where he thought it should go and I went to check on it. It had been chewed through the bottom and looked like some small animal had mistaken it for food.
Silly animals.

I would gladly take a small rodent plundering the cache as opposed to the larger variety of creatures. Seems there was food in a cache container before I acquired it and it was molested by a bear-there certainly are plenty of those in the vicinity of Cedarwood Meadows.
I just finished the replacement cache container. As this is deep in the swamp, I used 4" PVC pipe with the threaded cleanout plug. Let him eat that! _________________ When Re-Inventing the Wheel ... Think Rounder |

IT is not chipmonk's that are doing this.....
It is well known in the world that a little prankster is out there for some reason he likes film canisters because he thinks that somebody is trying to take his photo.
He also likes empty peanut butter jars and tupperware. Just to get that last little taste.
So if you see him I suggest you just throw him your last energy bar and run!!!!!!!!!
I have a very close friend that "claims" he saw one and lived to tell about it. He said he could smell the stench for 15 mins. before the sighting. Took him days to tell about the story. For those boyscouts out there reading this that have gone to Many Point...you know what I'm talking about!!!!
I lived at the base camp of the swamp for 2 summers. |
