Just a question to all: Other than Google Earth what site provides extremely detailed satellite imagery to us free of charge?
I ran across a cool site a week or so ago by accident but didn't bookmark it and don't remember an address - don't ya hate when that happens?

If don't clear your browser history you may be able to find it there... I did the same thing for another site and found it that way [I can't take credit for remembering, a coworker reminded me of it].

there is google maps it works great on most hand held palm and blackjack devices. if you have the new blackjack 2 you can use the onboard GPS and it will track just as any other gps but with your sat image. kind of fun.

I use it on my Treo 750 it works great. I use it all of the time for the local street maping. I think it will work with other cell phones that are internet capible.

ask maps used to have the best imagery, but when I checked them out last time I couldn't find the option. not sure if they removed it for good, or what?

As much as I hate to admit it, Microsoft has some decent maps at live.com, with various views and such.

I love maps.live.com for their "birds eye view" as it rocks Google Maps hard.

Its probably more beneficial to most than street view, primarily because its looking at a 45 degree tangent to the ground, giving it a 3d, non-rendered look to the structures. They're just different animals and they serve different purposes.

You can get two neat kinds of imagery off MN DNR's Data Deli

The Farm Services Adminstration has rectified true color images from 2003-2004, about 1 m resolution. I used some FSA photos in Big White Arrow, Little Black Box

They also allow you to dowload Digital Ortho Quarter Quads (DOQQs), black and white images, sub meter accuracy.

These are both air photo products, but have much better resolution than satellite imagery (at least the satellies WE have access to...)
