What's in 2012? I thought the rapture was supposed to happen back in 1986. I remember people that actually quit their jobs and gave away all of their possessions because they knew for a fact that the rapture was going to happen and that God would take them. Needless to say, they got their jobs back. |

2012 is the end of time in the Mayan calendar. Some extrapolat that it means the end of existence. _________________ The trouble with the world is not that people know too little, but that they know so many things that ain't so.

Just certain peoples or groups facts. If you look you can find other people, groups including scientists who will give or state facts that contradict those presented facts. There are a lot of people that are making a lot of money in the whole global climate change scare. People can believe what they want but I have not seen any proof that convinces me. |

Nah, nothing rapture related (unless you want to point it in that direction, then I suppose some people might assume it would be a rapture). A lot of scientific stuff is pointing towards 2011 or 2012 as a time of great global turmoil- Pole shifts beginning, Overdue supervolcano eruptions, Solar maximum, Extinction cycles... there's some pretty fascinating stuff out there that could happen.
Also, yes that is when the Mayan calendar ends (technically called an end of the 5th or 6th era.. I can't recall), and the Mayans had a pretty good track record at reading the stars and predicting stuff. Of course, they never predicted their own demise... |

I just love that eather way you slice it there is doom ahead.

Not really on the topic of global warming any longer
Doomsayers do seem to have one thing in common... and that is every one of them who has predicted the demise of the Earth and humanity have all been wrong so far. Here's to hoping they'll continue to be wrong. _________________ The Lucid Network (tm)-- More Bars in More Places! |

The public comments are even better than the article. |

Interesting article. Guess now we have 7 more years of "the sky is falling" while temps may actually cool. Yeah, right.
Gonna go find some caches now... _________________ I feel the need! The need for speed! |

I just get a kick out of the back and forth comments. It's even more fun to read the reader comments on a political news article. |
