Aitkin County is looking to set up geocaching courses throughout the county and through campground areas and is looking for help in doing this. The county is very receptive and flexible to how this is accomplished and we'd like to put someone local in contact with them. If you have interest in this, please post here and we'll give you the necessary contact information to get started.

Aitkin County manages 4 campground areas and over 200,000 acres of forest land. This would be a hefty undertaking so the more local cachers interested in doing this, the better.

I exchanged emails with the Aitkin County Contact. They will arrange a brainstorming meeting and welcome any geocachers to attend. So, it sounds like early planning stages and they would like to work with geocachers so they have something we like.

Aitkin County is forming an ad hoc committee for their recreation trail plan. They are meeting on the evening of August 12. I will be going. If others are interested in joining this, just let me know.
