Ok, I finally broke down and bought a new GPS, a Garmin Legend. I tried it out this morning, and I couldn't get less than 37 ft. accuracy. After about 15 minutes, the gps went out and I had this single line going down the right side. I had to remove the batteries to get it to come on. Did it to me again on the way back from the park...so I'm hoping I didn't buy a defective one.
I only had about 2 hours on freshly recharged batteries from playing around on it at home. I bought it from the megagps (or gpsmega) store on-line.
Does it sound like a lemon? |

Sounds like it to me. Generally it's a bad thing if your GPS doesn't work after 15 minutes of playing with it.
Hope they have a return policy! |

| I don't know of the store personally, but the good news is you bought a Garmin and if the store gives you any grief at all Garmin had excellent customer service. I'd almost consider calling them first. They'll take good care of you. |

I've always had great service from MegaGPS. Give them a call and they will probaly give you a RMA number to ship it back to them. However, they may also tell you to contact Garmin who I know will take care of the issue. _________________ Airborne All the Way! |

Thanks,
Of course, I've already thrown out all the packaging and such...so hopefully, I can track down some purchase information. I just got it a week or 2 ago. |

Are you sure it wasn't in Garmin mode (i.e. the ones with the antennas... uses batteries, takes you to caches, etc.)?
Garmin really is excellent when it comes to customer service. I'd call them first and see what they can do for you. _________________ The Lucid Network (tm)-- More Bars in More Places! |

A technical issue that I actually know something about!!
This has happened to me once on my Garmin Legend, though not right out of the box. I called the customer service number and they were able to reboot the GPS via satellite somehow and the line disappeared and it worked normally. So it could be as simple as that. Give them a call. |

????? I'm not sure about that one. Garmin can't, at least to my knowledge, push anything down the satellites. They are us government satellites. I'm curious what you or they did though that fixed this. A co-worker has the same issue right now. _________________ Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. |

I'll give that a try when I call them....now it seems to be working so I might just see if it has stopped or if it keeps doing it. |
