How many of you have had a log and find deleted? I have been caching since '03 and this is a first for me.

Yes, I was politely critical of a cache, but I certainly didn't expect to be deleted, before this new cache was archived. No explanation or contact before his action was taken.

I emailed the cacher asking why and I would expect to have my find , if not my log restored, but the bad taste it leaves can't be.

Over the years I have had several logs deleted. On one occasion the log was deleted because the owner didn't like the fact I used a sticker. He wanted the log signed. So he deleted the log. Other times because I was critical of the log.

Just relog the find and don't worry about it.

Both AA and I had one deleted on a cache that the owner knew needed maintenance, hadn't marked it as disabled, and then got annoyed w/me when I told him he was being lame when we logged it after finding the rotting remains.

Never had a log deleted that I know of. Although here are some instances where I WILL delete logs.
Someone visited the cache and didn't sign the log, someone saw the cache and didn't sign the log, someone might have seen the cache but didn't sign the log.......whats all that have in common? They didn't sign the log. I have had people even log ONLINE that they saw the cache or might have found the cache but didn't sign the log. Ha! We had two couples come through from Kansas City a few months ago. In one day they were in like 4 states,which is highly possible here in Sioux Falls as we are on the border of two of them MN and IA. But this whole deal didn't make much sense to me. They had supposedly picked up a bunch of caches on this excursion. They were also the owners of supposedly OVER 3000 caches. Upon looking at logged caches we found that of the ten or so of ours that they claimed to have found, only 3 or 4 had actually been signed. Others in the area found the same thing. Upon deleting they said "hey we sometimes forget to sign the caches". OK i can understand forgetting to log ONE cache but not several in one day. And I can understand someone who is new at this game to forget or whatever but not someone with supposedly so many caches. To me these people probably have mostly fake numbers and that doesn't hurt me at all but when they are on their way to claiming the most finds, and someone else has actually done the hard work of finding the most finds......it DOES make a difference.

I own a cache that is too small to hold a decent log book. Inside the cache is a small piece of paper with one word written on it. Each finder is required to geomail this word to me or the find will be deleted. I plan to do this for all future caches I own regardless of size. Now if I were to own 1000 caches this might not be feasable, but who would ever hide that many?

In this case, SJ approved it with the cache description clearly stating that there was no log book present. To clarify what I said before, I plan to require an accompaning geomail for future hides even though a log book will be in the container.
