If you are doing both the County Challenge and the DeLorme Challenge and have not yet tackled NW MN, you may be interested in the bookmark that we created.

It is a 10 x 10 route; 10 counties and 10 DeLorme pages are covered. We started in Detroit Lakes and finished in Moorhead. You need not do every cache in the bookmark to meet the challenges...there's lots of overlap.

The bookmark's called: County and DeLorme Challenges - Northwestern MN.

I loaded this into MS Streets and Trips just for fun.. To do all the caches, starting at a cache in Detroit Lakes and finishing in Moorhead, would take 14 hours 27 minutes driving time, 555 miles. And that's just for 10 counties/pages...

To meet the challenges, we found 14 caches and placed one cache, for a total of 15. In the bookmark, I indicated which ones we did and the order in which we did them.

We left Blaine at 6pm on Friday night, found a cache in Detroit Lakes, placed a cache in Waubun, and then slept in the parking lot of the casino in Mahnomen.

We started early on Saturday morning and were back home to Blaine by 10pm Saturday night.

If we had a choice, we would have stretched it over the full weekend, as there were lots of interesting caches that we would have liked to find. But Betty had to fly to California on Sunday, so we really had to push it. Even so, it was a lot of fun.

I forgot to add the round-trip mileage was 884 miles.
