| Other than bad taste, what is stopping any of us from listing our own coins for profit? I am NOT talking about the limited edition coins. |

You purchased it therefore belongs to you.
You can sell it for a profit, a loss, give it away, or do most anything with it.
Heck you can even keep it untill you croak and your next of kin sells it in "bad taste".
I think if it were given to you the item "may" have some strings attached as long as those strings were communicated before you accepted the item.
I can't see how it is in anyway "bad taste" to sell an item you purchased. |

The only bad taste here is the remnants of nibbling on troll food. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

| I know a few hardcore traders will not "trade" geocoins with you once you are labeled as a seller. |

Well, since I do not collect nor actively trade coins I am sure I can handle that. I have no immediate plans... I was just asking.
I've unintentionally accumulated a number of MN themed coins. And since I won't start officially collecting them I was wondering about options in the future if I decide I don't want them anymore. |

| The only thing that would be bad taste would be selling your coins before merkman's auction is finished. The hardcore traders probably wouldn't care either unless you sell coins that are for trading only. |

I don't see how that can be any more tasteless than waiting. There are a zillion listings on eBay and no one seems to wait for my auctions to finish before listing similar items.
I think I'll probably be listing the following items:
- 5th Anniversary MN Cache Bash
- MN Showy Lady Slipper
- MNGCA Gold LE, both coins (I'll keep MO and standard issue coins) |

Right... Well, since merkman didn't seem to mind, it is probably fine. I just remember coin sellers in the past (like Arctic for example) not liking it if people sold their coin on ebay before they got a chance to. |

If Arctic was giving them away I TOTALLY understand. If he sold them to people, at any % over cost, who then listed them for sale, then I'll refrain from commenting... AND I DON'T KNOW either way so I'll end it there. |

Let's clear the air here. I never prevented anyone from trading or selling my personal coin. I may have asked for the opportunity to sell some of mine first so that I could make my money on the production back. But I never prevented anyone from not selling them. Nor complained if they did.
It is also my understanding that many coin collectors will buy two or three with the intention of selling all but one in order to recoup their money. Thus their collections costing them nothing in the end. _________________ Airborne All the Way! |
