Okay so recently I found a GPS while out doing some caches. I believe it belongs to another cacher, but I have never seen them log on line. So I'm starting this post in hopes they may read it and contact me. Verify the make model and nearby cache and I'll be happy to return it to you. _________________ If I'm not Crazy, am I Sane??? |

Found the owner of the GPS, and returned the unit to them. It was nice to help out a fellow cacher....

No they didn't see my post, I was finally able to get to the right menu (GPS was not my brand) on the GPS and find what appeared to be home coordinates. So I took a little trip and found a teenage boy happy to see his GPS again! _________________ If I'm not Crazy, am I Sane??? |

TH,
Nice to hear you found the owner of the GPS. This would make a good reason to have a home waypoint in your GPS. In this instance it worked out for the owner of the GPS. Nice thinking TH!!! _________________ King of the Jeff Gordon TB's!

I have my real name and address listed on the owner's page that appears when the gps is turned on. Maybe that is too simple? _________________ Summer is too short |

Most GPS users don't understand anything aside from "the arrow" so adding your name and address would be included in their lack of knowledge about their unit. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

I have my email address on the first screen that pops up when I turn mine on. If I ever misplace it, I would hope someone would send me a note. _________________ "We never seek things for themselves-what we seek is the very seeking of things"-Pascal |

I can't think of a more sure way of having it disappear for ever! _________________ "Hi, I'm Moe, or as the women know me - Hey! You in the bushes."

Mine also has my name, address, phone number, and caching handle on the owner screen.
I can't see how someone could miss this - it's displayed on power-up for about 10 seconds. They may not see it the first time but it would eventually catch their attention. _________________ Hmm... |

| We also have our name and phone number on the start up splash screen in case it is lost, and to go one further, we attach a piece of high viz flagging tape on the antennae section on our gpsmap 60csx's, to hopefully never lose it in the first place. While at caches, if you put it down to sign the log, that high viz flagging tape stands out, so it is easily seen, and brought back out with you. |
