After visiting our Daughter in Maple Grove over the weekend, we stopped in Albertville on the way home. Boy I tell ya just one of them big ole stores would take up the whole town of Vergas. Anyway while the wife was out looking at girl things, I headed off to find a new Wallet, my old one is a bit tattered. While looking through the vast inventory in stock, a young man came up and started his search also. After a while I turned to him and said, "It sure was easier picking up a Wallet, when they all had a picture of Roy Rogers on them." The young man turned to me and said. " I'm sorry, I don't know who that is." I really didn't know what to say or think, or do, so I set down the Wallet I was looking at , and went in search of my wife. She knows who Roy was! _________________ Onions the real man's Vegetable |

At least I recognize the name.. I don't think I'd be able to identify him by his picture though... John Wayne maybe but not Roy Rogers... _________________ Hmm... |

Now if pfalstd would use Roy Rogers' picture in one of his puzzles, At least I'd know who it was. Not like those horses with glasses.........Or is that Trigger? |

Hey Onionpond: I remember watching RR on the paren'ts b & w Tv. Of course we watched other "neat" programs like SkyKing and Lassie to mention a few. There were 4 good stations and one public networks in the cities and staying up late at night you could watch the television sign off at night and the test pattern would come on.
My hubby is even older than me and they had their TV either on or off as they could only get one television station (ABC out of Alexandria).
I hope these remarks make you feel better. _________________ Summer is too short |

I am not that old but growing up "way up north" we only had 1 channel and that was the Canadian channel. If you didn't like hockey you had best find your self a hobby on the days of hockey night in Canada.
Does anyone know who the Friendly Giant or Mr. Dressup were? |

heck with all of these feel good comments.
Yes your getting old. But so am I and the rest of us. Just remember it is age, wisdom, and experience. Just think of all of the great programs that they have missed out on and replaced with things like "The Simpsons" or "South Park".
Have Gun Will Travel
Lost in Space (TV show not the movie)
The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
Smothers Brothers
Or great shows like Playhouse 90.
Now we get thoughtless dribble on the tube. _________________ Airborne All the Way! |

Dave,
The particular shows you mention are terrible examples if you honestly believe South Parks and the Simpsons are dribble. You obviously cannot get past the first layer of content and understand the numerous meanings behind each episode.
Older TV was bland face-value boring. TV shows now are rich and interesting years beyond what was done even 10 years ago.
To each their own obviously but to dismiss it as pointless because you are unwilling to digest the episode before puking it back up on a geocaching forum is just plain wrong.

You hit the nail right on the head Articabn. You are as young as you feel, but just stop and think for a while what the youth of today has missed out on. Instead of having role models like Roy Rogers and Davey Crockett, they have K-Fed & Kid Rock.
Daniel Boone was a man, yes a big man.
And he fought for America, to keep all Americans free.
From the coon skin cap on the top of ol Dan.
To the heel of his rawhide boots.
The rippin'est snortin'est fightin'est man the frontier ever knew. _________________ Onions the real man's Vegetable |

You *are* showing your age. K-Fed is a well known loser and no one cares about him other than the media and Kid Rock has been irrelevant for 5 years or more. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |
