Jonas, Keeper of the records.
Is this months COTM race the most hotly contested to date? With the most votes cast?
Two very popular caches and cache creators I suspect.
If this was Chicago I could vote again - and I would! Da Bloodhound    |

Definitely, It's about a four times higher turnout than usual. Normally the CotM vote ends up with around a 10-15 turnout.
It's exciting to see this high turnout. It looks like about 11 new cachers joined the forum this week so that couldn't solely account for the high turnout. Anything that helps promote and encourage great caches, which I am sure all nominated caches are, is positive. |

I love night caches. I never met one I didn't like yet.
Well, there was one that had me rather irritated for a while but that's a whole different story (and in the end it rated very high with this particular local cacher's other caches). _________________ Hmm... |

You can do Frieght Train Blues at night if you want to and are a real sucker for punishment. I wouldn't recommend it, though. heheheh! _________________ Alcohol & calculus don't mix. Don't drink & deriv |

The Evil Dead down in Rosemount/Lakeville is also a very exciting night cache. Toilet paper recommended.

| I voted for Freight Train Blues, as I thought it was very well done. But, I find it interesting that this cache received 23 votes even though it's only been found 14 times... |

It would appear that someone has been soliciting votes from individuals who may (or may not) have found the cache which would probably explain the 13 new users that have signed up since the poll opened. _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

It could be anyone or no one. It just seems fishy that I was told by someone, who never found any of these caches, that they received an e-mail asking them to vote and then a flood of new users came through.
It's good for the MnGCA and the new users that joined our group so whatever _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

Wouldn't that be the democratic process?
Campaign for someone's vote. If they are not registered to vote, get them registered. |

Yup, it's good for the MnGCA, as I've already stated, and because none of my caches are in the running I don't care who wins _________________ Sad state of affairs. |

Unless of course all of the new members were the same person. Besides, in real life, you'd have to hand out cigarettes and recruit those that aren't technically legal to vote.. |

I know for a fact that emails were sent out solicitating votes by at least of one of our finders, and I also suspect that many hadn't even gone after the cache yet. I'm sure that Mike and I both wish that all of the voters had at least tried it.
Yet, there is a post here somewhere (I can't seem to find it tonight) by Camocacher, stating that voting rules do NOT state that you must have found the cache. That simply reading the description is enough to vote.
That stated, I also suspect, but do not know, that there was probably a campaign by the Northern Minnesota cachers for Team Hooligan's cache, and all's fair in love, war, and caching, right?
The bottom line is that this vote brought great attention to some great caches, brought some new attention to MNGCA, and possibly raised the bar on what geocaches can be. I want to thank ALL who voted for ALL caches.
And, Bart, your cache was awesome! Thanks for placing it. I had a lot of fun with it!
(BTW, I also must confess that I voted for CAG's half of our cache, and I suspect that he also voted for my half, but he'd have to admit that for himself!) _________________ Alcohol & calculus don't mix. Don't drink & deriv |

By the way, has anybody noticed how much I look like a dog in my avatar? I really don't look like that in real life! _________________ Alcohol & calculus don't mix. Don't drink & deriv |
