It doesn't seem like they even talked to anyone about this.

On the positive side...I saw a spot last night on Geocaching on The Travel Channel's "Top 10 Best".
It was on treasure hunting and Geocaching ranked #7. They painted a totally positive and fun picture. |

| I would email them and tell them that if they're going to ban geocaching they could at least know what the heck it is they're banning. Geocaching DOES NOT involve burying objects, in fact burying caches is specifically banned on geocaching.com. The proper term should be "covering". |

The rules prohibit Geocaching and Paintballing throughout the Riverway. Geocaching involves burying objects that others search for using Global Position System (GPS) technology. Geocaching threatens archeological resources and Paintball introduces foreign objects into the Riverway.

No kidding they didn't talk to anybody!
It also says in the article that the rules are available for public review and comment through May 30, 2003. |

I know that the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, while not a National Park (where geocaches are banned, and have been as long as the pastime has been around), it is administered by the National Park Service and is probably treated like a national park. Something like St. Croix differs from something like the Superior National Forest in that National Forests are administered by the Forest Service which is a different government entity all together from the National Park Service, even though both fall under the USDA, or they used to. _________________ There comes a time in every young boy's life when he gets an irresistible urge to seek buried treasure.--Mark Twain |

In the ST. Paul Paper today there is an article about a group of boater who have built a disco on an island. This place has a generator, lights, bar, dance floor, etc...
Isint it wierd that this can exist even temporaraly but a small tupperware container well hidden is a NO-NO???????

When I found the skull in the woods, the first thing I did was call the police. But then I got curious about it. I picked it up, and started wondering who this person was, and why he had deer horns. |
